the model DOES make a big difference.

you can get takeout at Mortons Steakhouse, Outback Steakhouse (where yes they will bring it to your car curbside), PF Changs, TGIFridays, Ruby Tuesday, etc...

pretty much ANY sitdown restaurant you can get take out, and your order will be put in as a priority as well.

You're still comparing apples to oranges because all Cheeburger makes are burgers. Since they specialize in them, they can produce them faster than all of the chains you listed above while still making a better burger. While it may or may not be slightly slower than 5 Guys, you can still order at the counter and not deal with the waitress route if you don't want to. It's still a fast food burger chain whether you want to admit it or not and it's why WTOP rated it best burger in DC over 5 Guys:
http://www.wtop.com/?sid=1980598&nid=812
# BGR: The Burger Joint - 2 percent
# Burger Boys - 8 percent
# Cheeburger Cheeburger - 44 percent
# Elevation Burger - 1 percent
# Five Guys Burgers and Fries - 22 percent
# Foster's Grille - 8 percent
# Fuddrucker's - 3 percent
# Olney Ale House - 2 percent
# Ray's Hell Burger - 4 percent
# Red Robin - 3 percent

^^ How many of those have a drive through? That doesn't mean anything, the best burger should mean the best burger regarding quality, not fcking business model.

your link has nothing to do with the best FAST FOOD burger joint...

this thread does.

nobody is saying 5 guys is the best burger in the world. just that it is the best fast food burger joint.

cheeburger is good, and so is 5 guys, and i would prefer to go to one over the other depending 100% on what my mood is at the current time and what my goal is.

The burgers at Five Guys are tasty, but the buns are sub-par and there's no excuse for 'yellow' mustard IMHO. And no milk shakes? D:

Agreed on all three counts. Months ago, when I went, I tried posting how their buns are sub-par and the fanboy tsunami of outrage was epic.

I also bemoaned the lack of shakes, which are a true burger joint tradition going back to the 1920's and 1930's. You would have thought I was asking for a tableside blowjob and pedicure!

Why are fanboys so desperately insecure about their chosen icons? And WHY are said icons almost always overpriced or mediocre . . . or both?

Is herd hype that strong? <------- Admits he is at least in part poking the true believers with his pointy, pointy elbows and exquisitely sharpened stick. :awe:

I also like McD's fries... They're great.

Not being a resident of the US, I haven't heard of half of these places ever..

I'm not sure why people are up in arms about the best "fast food" burger. The best burger is still from a local non chain restaurant.

That's fine, at least you admit their burgers aren't the best. Saying that it's the best "Fast Food" burger is just excuses in my book because takeout is fast food. You may have to wait 3-5 minutes longer at Cheeburger, whoopdedoo.

I just looked up the quality of the meat at Five Guys:
http://www.fiveguys.com/faq.aspx

Q: Does Five Guys serve organic or free range beef?

A: While our beef is neither organic nor are the cattle free range, our distributor purchases raw materials from the major meat suppliers in the US and they treat the cattle humanely and follow all the procedures set forth by the USDA.

I'll let the Five Guys peeps decide what that means. @Chee you know you're getting no hormones, additives, or frozen chemicalbeef for about the same price. I think that's worth waiting a couple minutes more but that's just my opinion. Fuddruckers is kinda the same way but with less toppings and I don't think their meat tastes as fresh.

I do want to try Ray's Hellburgers and see what all the Obama-hype is about.

This is coming from the person who thinks Wendy's has the best burgers. Try some real meat without hormones or additives and 100 percent grass fed then get back to me. Until then, enjoy the pseudo-chemical beef that has been frozen for the past year and keep checking for lumps in your testes. Unreal that you would even contest that frozen crap like Wendy's beef is better than fresh beef that has never been frozen.
So your argument is that badly preserved meat tastes better, especially when it has no salt or seasoning of any kind?

Salt and other additives like it are what make food taste good. Have you ever wondered why an expensive sushi restaurant still puts soy sauce on the table? It's because salt is delicious. Sure this sushi is pretty good and they just killed this fish 5 minutes ago, but it's 100x better with salt and all the other chemicals in soy sauce.

They explicitly stated what it means. Their beef supplier follows USDA standards. That means go to the USDA website and that will give you a brief description of how the animals are treated.

That's not a heck of a lot. A standard quarter pounder is 4 ounces.

well, their regular hamburger comes with TWO 3.5 oz patties... figured you would have known this since it seems you are talking as if you have been there...

So their regular hamburger is what like $6 plus tax?

Giving you twice as much food as you can eat then charging you for all of it is not a good deal. I wish people would stop being tricked by this bullshit. About a year ago I was at a non-franchise place for breakfast. For $10, I got a huge plate of food. It had everything, and it was really tasty. The problem was that I couldn't finish the thing, so ultimate I pay $10 for a meal then only eat maybe 2/3 of it. If they served smaller portions and charged less for it (wendys 2 ounce burgers for $1) then I could have eaten the same delicious meal for only $6-7. It's a scam. When you go to a burger place and the minimum you can order is TWO 3.5 oz patties, that's a scam.

you really are showing that you have NEVER been there, and have NO fucking clue what you are talking about...

they have Little Hamburgers, and Hamburgers...

little hamburgers are one 3.5 ounce patty (~$3) and hamburgers (~$4)

and yes, technically you could order a 100 stack burger...

you can get as many patties as you want, they are like $1.20 each or something.

the fun part that people dont really know about, is if your burger at 5 guys has cheese, or bacon on it, extra cheese, extra bacon will cost nothing... you can get as much cheese or bacon as you want provided you already paid for the first part.

Fresh beef should speak for itself. If u want salt on it, pour it on yourself. Old chemical beef at Wendy's tastes like sht to me, but then again I eat local organic buffalo two times a week in the summer. It's like someone living in 3rd world country who moves to the US for the first time. They were happy in their homeland but didn't know what they were missing until they got here. ;)

If Five Guys beef was hormone and additive free, they would have stated it as a selling point. The fact that they "just follow USDA standards" means they buy the cheapest meat possible. Which is ok for 90% of the sheeple who don't know what's in their food, but not for me. Different strokes for different folks.

Edit: I do have to hand it to Five Guys for turning the cheapest meat possible into a virtual goldmine among the masses. Only in America.

they make almost nothing on their burgers...

the goldmine is from Idaho...

$25 for a 50# bag of potatoes, which makes around 30+ regular fries... ($2.5)

I tried 5 guys last week for the first time while in Florida on business. I thought the fries were awesome. Sadly, the burger was merely ok.
