Definite darwin award IMO.

I mean WTF? You have to be basically braindead to run an engine inside your house.

Morons. No sympathy.

Edit: Okay, I feel bad for the children.

Obviously the adult figure had some screws lose.. or something.

Christ.

He was a construction worker... I thought some of them should realize that the fumes it puts out is noxious. Most construction workers are required to be trained by OSHA and know of the hazards. This guy was plain retarded. Too bad his family had to suffer.

As sad as it is this happens after every hurricane. I guess they are the ones that didn't get the memo.

Running a generator IN the house? That is equivalent to holding a 10 foot metal pole in the middle of a open field during a thunderstorm.

Geez when we were running a generator OUTSIDE the house, some of the fumes would get in when we went in and out and nearly gag you. How could they NOT tell that this was bad!?!

This is the same kind of people who take the cats off their F150s to get 5 more horsepower. To them noxious fumes are a liberal myth.

Like alot of stories we hear in the news we may not be hearing the whole story. Maybe the generator was being run in an adjacent room to the apt. like a utility room. He's in construction, he has a generator that's probably used on the job site, he has to know the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. I'm going to say that he had it in a spot that he thought would be safe but fumes made it into the apt.

" The deaths raised Rita's death toll to seven."
I don't think these should be counted in Rita's death toll.

I started a thread about that before... I was flamed.
My point of view is that if idiocy is more than 50% for the reason of cause of death, they should not be counted. Surfing in the storm surge = died from idiocy, not from the storm.
Put them in the record with an asterisk next to their names.

So sad to see this happen. Common sense often blows out the window long after the winds have subsided.

Did you know if a person speeds through an intersection hitting a traffic officer directing traffic and kills him/her it's counted as a hurricane related death? Because the electricity was knocked out by the storm and if this hadn't happened the officer would not have been there.

"He was a good daddy," Haynes said, fighting back tears. "He was always in our life. He didn't deserve this."

Apparently not good enough as in Darwin pwns you!
