I have a Asus Rampage and wanting to get the EVGA 470

It appears even though my board is 18-months old, I have the PCI-2 16 slot for the card. Just want to confirm and wondering if any of you can guess if the card will actually fit.

Thank you.

PCIe 2.0 or 2.1 is cross-compatible BOTH ways with PCIe 1.0.

If it's a 16x slot and a 16x card, and the motherboard works, so will the card. no need to worry about version of PCIe, just width.

Thanks folks.

I'll tell you what's now throwing me off a bit. I opened the case and there are two blue PCI slots and two white. Currently, I have the Asus 9800 GTX in one of the blue PCI slots. I can see how the 470 GTX could easily replace this, but for some reason I thought it was the white slots that were the correct ones. Now I'm looking at the specs for the 9800 GTX and it appears that card also used the PCI Express 2.0 16

I'm just surprised that the new cards are using the same PCI interface as the board I purchased 18 months ago. Can you confirm that I'm not missing something here?

Don't get me wrong; I'm thrilled; just surprised.

Cheers -CC

Boards with PCIe have been available since like 2004-2005, your card would even run in those, just the rest of the system would severly bottleneck it's performance
