Electric car-maker to build vehicles at Del. plant

By RANDALL CHASE (AP) ? 1 day ago

DOVER, Del. ? People with knowledge of talks between Fisker Automotive and Delaware officials say the company plans to build vehicles at a former General Motors plant in Wilmington.

The head of the California-based producer of electric vehicles said earlier this week that officials would soon announce a U.S. manufacturing site.

On Friday, a person with knowledge of the situation who didn't want to be identified because an announcement hasn't been made told The Associated Press Fisker has settled on the Wilmington site.

A state government official who also didn't want to be identified because there's been no announcement described the deal as "99 percent" complete.

A Fisker spokesman didn't immediately respond to messages from The Associated Press.

If they really did lie, wouldn?t it be easy to sue them for it? It would have done damages to the company, no?

In your story Fisker said earlier this week (10/23/09) they were going to announce a US manufacturing site. The Fox news story was broadcast 9/26/09. So where did Fox news lie? The announcement by Fisker wasn't until a month after Fox story ? hmmmm? Maybe Fisker decided to do the manufacturing in the US because of the Fox story ?

uh, read the link in the bottom and you will discover that Fisker has been talking for as long as they could that project nina (aka a small, less expensive, PHEV) will be produced in America...

yea, facts would be that Fisker has planned since atleast the start of the nina project to produce it in the US, in fact when they got the loans, they SAID it would be used for an AMERICAN PRODUCED vehicle... let's not confuse inability to read, with the FACTS

From your posted story "The head of the California-based producer of electric vehicles said earlier this week that officials would soon announce a U.S. manufacturing site. " The rumor the were talking about it is a shoulda, woulda, coulda. In other words pure bullshit. In this particular case, Fox didn't lie, they reported the facts.

Fisker's Project Nina will be assembled "in the U.S." The September 22 DOE press release states that 68 percent of the Fisker loan will be used "for Fisker's Project Nina, involving the manufacture of a plug-in hybrid in the U.S. Fisker estimates that up to 75,000-100,000 of these highly efficient vehicles will roll off assembly lines in the U.S. every year beginning in late 2012." The press release states that with regard to the remaining funds -- which will be used for the production of the more expensive Fisker Karma -- that the engineering work "will be conducted at Fisker's Pontiac, Michigan office with support from its headquarters in Irvine, California," and that "[w]hile the final assembly of the Karma will be done overseas, more than 65 percent (based on cost) of the parts required for Karma will come from U.S. suppliers." DOE has concluded that "[t]he combined projects are anticipated to create thousands of jobs in the U.S. and provide substantial support for domestic parts suppliers saving or creating approximately 5,000 jobs." Henrik Fisker, CEO of Fisker Automotive, has reportedly "said that the current Karma would stay in Finland, but its successor could be built in the United States with the Nina vehicle (which will appear in late 2012)."

they werent in talks, Fisker had told the DOE that 68% of the loan would go towards a US based production facility... you cant say that and then renege on it, for if you do, say buhbye to the loan.

Here's the Sept. 22 DOE press release. It's a "conditional" loan.
http://www.energy.gov/8050.htm

Until and unless Fisker makes arrangements to build the Nina in the US the loans won't be made. In the OPs original post Fisker has still not made the official announcement of where they are going to build it. 169.3 million dollars of the loan is going to the Karma which is assembled overseas.

Fox did 9 minutes of lies in that segment.

They called the companies foreign. they are both American.

Their guest kept calling the loans grants, and no one corrected him.

They stated that the money would that the money would be used for production of expensive models overseas. In both cases, the money is to be used for production of cheaper models in the U.S..

And monovillage, the money is not to be used particularly for foreign production, but for R&D and developing common fabrication techniques between both the U.S. and foreign models.

And Fox was railing against no American jobs, but failed to mention that most of the parts would be manufactured in the U.S.

All of this was known at the time, and Fox spent the whole segment spewing lies and distortions. To suggest otherwise is as bad as the original lies.

Speaking of not being honest, Fisker Automotive is owned by Henrik Fisker who is not a US citizen. While the company has it's headquarters in Irvine, that doesn't make it a US company. I had to spend 9 minutes and 24 seconds watching that Fox clip, which is 9 minutes and 24 seconds more then i've seen Fox in over a year. At no point did they say there would be no American jobs, at no point could i see a lie. From your post on 10/02/09 "Fox News suggests loans will only create jobs "in Finland" " suggests ? or that was his interpretation of the Fox news story. I'm looking for a lie and not seeing it. You're claiming Fox lied when you should be claiming that Fox didn't tell all the truth or that their story was slanted, there's a difference.

I can understand that you're angry because someone actually read your links, watched your video and still dares to disagree with you. Fox said Finland based, which is true at the moment because that's where their assembly plant is for the Karma which is the only vehicle they have in production. Henrik Fisker is a German citizen, he OWNS the freaking company. I'm a dimwit because i keep looking for proof of an actual lie? You're so convinced that Fox lied and you're so wrapped up in your own self righteousness that when someone wants to see the actual lie you get your panties in a bunch like a fundie talking about evolution. Show me a straight up, flat out lie in Foxs story. Not a "lie by omission" not a slanted, biased report, but a flat out lie.

Moore stated: "[T]his is money that was supposed to be for creating jobs. It was Department of Energy money to create a new high-performance car that is fuel-efficient, electric car. Half a billion dollars went to this Finland company. By the way, there was another grant of about that same amount that's gone to a British company

sit down bitch.

Fisker: American based, and headquartered.
Tesla: Based in Silicon Valley.

Guess you're the kind of demographic Fox likes. Can't see a lie even when it is explained to you.
