I know sardines are good for my anemia... To help replenish my hemoglobin but the fishy smell makes me wanna heave. :(

Maybe eating a bran muffin will help cover this.

Whoa, how anemic do you have to be to require a blood transfusion? :Q

Hope you get better, man.

Eli,

My hemo count was 159 two years ago, 124 last year, 100 three weeks ago and 90 when I went to the ER two weeks ago, unable to catch my breath while lying on my back in bed. They took two X-Rays of my chest and I got transfused two bags of blood. The anemia was probably due to internal bleeding I've been experiencing and which is almost fixed, and a change in diet when I stopped eating red meat. The blood tests done three weeks ago were to check for possible diabetes as I was having lots of sugar cravings (due to the anemia, needed energy). When I went to the ER, they said I was like a guy on a tall mountain, not processing enough oxygen.

My daughter loves fishies. I send her to school with tins of them. I like them, but I have to be in the mood. I got some really good sardines from France a couple of years ago. They were packed with chilis, and it gave it a nice spice.

But what about the damn smell???

It doesn't bother me or her. I send a mint in with her for her breath. Her teacher did tell her not to bring smoked oysters anymore. She(her teacher) said it almost made her throw up :^D

riga sprats are also pretty yummy.
how does fish relate to hemoglobin anyways?

Sardines are a good source of iron.

oh.

well smell of fish sometimes relates to prep and seasoning. many american sardines i've tried like mustard flavored sorta reinforce the fish flavor, the tomato one i tried was too plain tomato, the asian one with a more chili pepper type seasoning made for a better overall taste not concentrated on fishiness. anyways its a personal thing anyways, perhaps you are hypersensitive to that food taste.
