Dont buy at ISHIDA MARKETING
I am a newbie in photography. I was buying a digital camera, and as typical consumer, I did my research off and online.
I went to a shop at
Peninsula Shopping Complex,
ISHIDA MARKETING (S) PTE LTD
#01-29/30.
and the sale person there was friendly and entertained all my question. Since they were
able to match my quote for my camera, I felt its only right for them to earn my money.
But never did it cross my mind that they will cheat me on the accessories. I am
unfamiliar with photography, so am not sure of the market rate.. nor did I ask my friends
who are familiar with, except on the cameras. So don't get taken in by the 'friendly
sale' face.. and do your sum carefully.
Also they attempted to steal my identity to claim a free gift worth a considerate sum from
Canon Customer Care Centre. They kept my warranty card, saying they will mail to Canon
for me and mail me my portion.. I questioned them as it was not the usual practice and no
need for such service (I was not aware of the Canon promotion then). But they insisted so
I thought.. what the hack.. shouldnt be a problem. But later when I come to realise the
promotion, and requested for my warranty card, it already had a "REDEEMED" stamped across
it. Then they 180 about turn and give me the free gift, saying they intended to mail it
together with the warranty card. But I was not told about that in the 1st place. Also
that 'free gift' was already marked.. obviously for sale! How unscrupulous can merchat in
Singapore get? Blah!
I felt like an idiot buying the original Canon camera case at S$120, twice the retail
price listed on www.canon.com.sg. Had I done my homework... I was cheated net $150 to $200++
1. HG 256MB Compact Flash Card. Quoted S$150. Online and offline quotes from shops in Sim Lim Square as is range S$95 to $125.
2. Lenspin Cleaner for camera. Other shops are offering at S$18.50, while they quoted me $45!
3. DV-511 Lithium Battery. Quoted me $100 while similar battery pack for Canon G5 BP-511is in the range of S$45 to S$65!
4. Canon Leather Case PSC-3000. Canon recommended retail price is S$59, while other shops sell at range S$55 to S$60. Quoted me S$150 initially, and then settled at S$120! Yes, I admit I am a fool. S$120 for a small leather pouch. How naive can I get &!&@%&
5. S$45 for a small tripod? blah later I found out I can buy a big one for just S$35.
Hope this wouldnt happen to you people. Take care.
