I had posted on this a ways back, but never had gotten pictures. This time I do:

The same thing happens to all the plants in my tank. My fish seem to do fine (2 harlequin rasboras, couple of japanese algae eaters that don't eat anything..., 2 rumy-noses, 2 cardinal tetras, 2 black mollies), but the plants just wither and die...can anyone tell what's wrong with them?

The local fish shop guy that I buy them from says they only live about 4 or 5 months anyway, so they're naturally dying, but that doesn't make much sense to me.

Post this here: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/

As for the issue - you should try dosing some fertilizers. Also, check around and see if it will be able to establish roots in that type of substrate, not sure if that's an issue in this case. One more thing to consider is the CO2 concentration, you're not injecting any CO2 right?

Check the site for DIY CO2 injection - just need a 2L bottle, some dry yeast, sugar, and water. This will help with the plants a good bit as well as something like Seachem's Excel, which is my recommendation on what to use for fertilization.
