That's genetics, sorry to say that it won't help much with that, if at all.

It is good for your skin though, yes. You will notice a difference there.

Just make sure you don't take too much 6 and too little 3.

Wiki Excerpt:
Some medical research has suggested that excessive levels of omega-6 acids, relative to omega-3 acids, may increase the probability of a number of diseases. Modern, Western diets typically have ratios of Omega-6 to Omega-3 in excess of 10 to 1, some as high as 30 to 1. The optimal ratio is thought to be 4 to 1 or lower.

Dietary sources of omega-6 fatty acids include:

* cereals
* whole-grain breads
* margarine
* most vegetable oils
* eggs and poultry
* baked goods.

Even without supplement, most people get enough Omega-6 a day. Omega-3 is what you want to maximize on.

Ahh, didn't know that. Interesting.

Don't bother taking additional Omega 6. You get PLENTY of that already. You need O3 to balance it out, and that should be your focus.

I never heard about the hair and skin benefits, but I take it to boost my HDL.

Careful with the fish oil. Most of it is high in vitamin A. Don't want to take too much and screw up your liver. Some brands have low amounts of A in them so try to find one of those.

My local GNC has fish oils (their own brand and a few other brands) and all are mercury free; most fish oil supplements are tested for trace levels of mercury nowadays.

But the product I buy from them is their Omega Complex, it's has a range of Omega 3, 6, 9 fatty acids and it uses multiple sources (fish, flax, borage). They also have similar products from a couple of other brands as well.

I take them mainly for cardiovascular health; not very concerned about lush skin and shiny hair.
