I hate fish on Fridays during Lent. Why couldn't chicken have been the food of choice for Lent? Or pork? I hate fish in general and having fish as the only main course in my meals on Fridays is just not acceptable. Mmmm, nasty fish sticks made from the undesirable leftovers of a multitude of different fish. Yum.

Anyone else feel the same way?

'Fraid not - I like Lent for just that reason.

Although I will agree with you that fishsticks made from <mumble>parts of fish are not at all the thing.

When I was doing the school lunch thing, Fridays used to alternate between the fishsticks and really, really bad mac & cheese. Young daughter tells that that things haven't changed much in that regard; she packs a lunch daily as a result.

Me, I like the fact that I can actually get fresh tuna salad at the office cafeteria deli line.

I just had some frozen fishsticks earlier(although they weren't frozen when I ate them). I'm probably going to have some pepperoni pizza later. What was that about lent? I guess I'm not a good catholic.:)hehe

Since when could you not have chicken for lent? Chicken is usually the way to go on Lent Fridays. Or cheese pizza. :)

so, who made these rules not eating certain food on certain days? Did god tell you directly, or did someone tell you (in writing or talking) that god told him to tell you?

just funny to me, if ppl are not understanding what it is for and complaining about it, what is the point doing it not knowing what it's for? interesting.

My understanding is that on Fridays dring Lent, practicing Catholics can only have seafood. No meat. I don't rememeber why Catholics have to do this but my guess is it has to do more with the Ages. By Ages I mean the Age of Pieces. Don't quote me but, the period of years between 2000 BC and 1 BC are known as the Age of Taurus. A lot of cultures during that time had many references, religious and otherwise, to bulls and cows during those years. I think the Babylonians did bull jumping in those days. 1 AD through 2000 AD are known as the Age of Pieces. Many religious references revolve around fish. The Eye of Jesus is shaped like a fish. His first miracle has to do with feeding a mass of people with only a few fish. My thoughts are that somehow since Pieces was the ruling figure through the ages, miracles were performed using it as a symbol of significance.

I could be wrong about everything above so please don't take my word as...gospel. :)
