The year-over-year price drops keep getting larger. Drop biggest in 59 years. Yes, the energy spike last year had an impact on that number. So, I looked into the change in prices over a two-year period (ie, what was the average price change per year from May 2007 to May 2009 excluding all data between those dates). That number is 1.41% inflation per year. That is still not deflation, but it is the lowest change in the 2-year CPI-U since the 1963-1965 period. The average change was 4.48% per year over the 1965-2009 period. So, the rate of inflation is dropping rapidly (but not yet to deflation).

WHAAAAA!!?!?

But every conservative I know is predicting Zimbabwean hyper-inflation for our country because of Obama.

no one serious thinks that inflation will be a significant threat, as soon as inflation even starts rear its head, the fed will stomp it out.

I know I won't go on the record saying that. I see too many pressures for inflation coming up, and we've had a good run of low inflation.

How about this growing long-predicted chatter about more countries moving off the dollar as their reserve currency?

I'm not expressing an opinion here, just saying I have some pertinent questions.
