Slammed into the back of an expedition today. Brakes locked up and there was nothing i could do. She was on her cell phone, and (of course) did not speak english.

I guess i had to get the first one out of the way at some point

:(

she was at a stoplight which had been green for a while, i hit the breaks and slid into her.

minimal damage to me at such a slow speed, but it demolished the rear of her expedition. i did not get a chance to take a picture of that.

No i wasnt, it was slipped to my belt at the time. I was going about 40, 20 yards away and im guessing hit the breaks too hard, which locked, and slid.

You could have paid attention and not rear-ended someone. So what if that someone was stopped at a green light?

I guess i had to get the first one out of the way at some point

I don't understand this mentality. GTFO the road if you really think it's inevitable that you wreck from time to time.

I'm glad nobody was seriously hurt.

I was freaked out about following anyone even remotely close for a while after my first rear-end job (18yo). Just going the speed of traffic, brake lights would come on and I'd get spooked and brake harder than I should. It lasted quite a while and finally went away but at least I no longer tailgate. You think you're invincible until something actually happens to you sometimes.

God I remember mine. I was 18, pulled out of the school parking lot and hit the back of an SUV at maybe 10 mph. Almost no damage, but the guy jumped out freaking and looked ready to kill me. Turns out his pregnant wife was sitting shotgun. Yikes.

As much as you'd like to think otherwise, its your fault for rear ending that woman. Doesn't matter if she was on the cellphone or not.
