Besides the fact that a tuxedo is usually worn with a bow tie and different under shirt. From google it seems the tux has satin and a suit doesn't. I own a few suits and I've worn them 10 times in probably 15 years. Can I wear a suit with a bow tie is that stupid. This is for a wedding.

Is this your wedding?
If yes, then wear what your wife-to-be wants you to wear.

Else, are you in the wedding party?
If yes, then wear what the rest of the groomsmen are wearing.

Else, wear suit, as a tux would be a bit much.

Open bar is always a good thing :)

I'm actually dodging one my wife is going to that is, but I'm just not in the mood lately.

Are another issue or two, I'm just not going.
