My first olympic distance triathlon is coming up on the 18th and I'm getting extremely nervous. I can do the individual distances, and even the bike/run distances no problem. I'm getting really nervous about doing all three together.

Any triathletes with advice? I'm just aiming to not finish DFL, so transition times don't really matter to me at this point.

I just completed my first Olympic tri 2 weekends ago.

My swim was in the gulf, I had never trained in anything other then the pool.
It killed my time. it added another 13 min to it.
Then came the bike I did a new personal best. No tri bike. 1hr 16 min.
Then Came the run. The heat really got to me. I am in Florida. By the time I got to the run it had warmed up. One thing that does not go together well with me is humidity heat and running. I would say the hardest part was the run. It took me a mile for my legs to get back under me. Just go out and do your best. There were about 3500 competitors in my tri. I was in the 40-44 age group. I was by far not top of my age group but I did not finish last either. I still thought a half marathon was harder to do. But that's just me.

Be sure to let us know how you do.

I hadn't ever considered a Triathlon, but you guys are making this pretty tempting. I'm not the best swimmer though. Moving to FL in a next couple months and it looks like we'll probably have a decent sized pool as well as the ocean near by.

try the shorter distance like a sprint triathlon to see how you like it:

800m swim
15K bike
5K run

2:51:28. Felt pretty good after. 24min swim/1:20 bike/1:02 run. My transitions were horrible.

Ha, most's transitions are from the recliner to the couch.

Good job, PP.

Thanks. It was definitely an adrenaline rush and the high after is like nothing I've experienced before. I've already signed up for another Oly in September. Going to try and break 2:40. My run needs to the most work.
