BE THE FIRST TO POST AVAILABILITY OF MSI's K7T TURBO and win... err, well, nothing.

However, you will have our praise and appreciation.:)

I and perhaps a few others, are waiting eagerly to get our clammy, grubby clutches on one of these babies! So if you find online availability, PLEASE post it here.

I believe the only (significant) difference between the KT133 & KT133A chipsets is the 200/266 FSB. I've read from reviews that this modification will increase overclockability for the K7T Turbo. I don't know how good that software is that you mentioned, but if it is good, I hope it's omission was just an oversight.

Also, I imagine the inclusion of RAID suggests a hyperization that true overclockers would most appreciate for a low budget desktop computer. That's a lot of inferences, but it makes me happy.:)

Yeah, I'd like a definitive answer of what the differences between the two boards will be. I know it's a different chipset, but what are the advantages. The old chipset can support 133 FSB, right?

froyo,

I'm now going to do something I've put off for quite a while.
Tom's Hardware has a database of information I'm hopeful will instruct me about memory and it's relationship to a cpu's clock and it's FSB, etc.

Maybe in a few weeks I'll know what I'm doing... Naaaah, no way.;)

270? That's more like the K7T Master.... It would be ridiculous to price K7T Turbo at that price. It shouldn't go higher than 130 bucks.

So you think it will be in the $130 range? Also, will they make it w/o integrated sound or RAID? I dont need either of them and would rather go without them. Also, will it have the same OCing or better then the KT7 Pro2a? Will the MSI version be the best just like it is for the Pro2a? Finally, would it be smart to wait for this or just get the pro2a now? Thanks for all the info.

Broadway we keep bumping into one another (Got my Antec Case from amazon BTW, Box Was TRaShEd, but case was fine)

I need a new Mobo too!
This is quite a hard decision to make, I like the features of the Abit KT7-Raid, but I hear of this great stability with the MSI K7T PRO2, so now this turbo board is even more appealing with its Raid config! Does anyone know if other board makers have adopted the 3-Phase power scheme that Abit uses or something similar? I've heard it greatly reduces heat of transistors and stuff.. from upwards of 130f down to 90f...

Anyone read the roundup of Tom's Hardware guide of Via KT133 chipset and pitted the MSI Pro2A against 4 others? It came LAST!!!! Well, they did say it's pretty stable and easily overclocked. Think I'll wait for the Turbo and see the results as I need a new mobo sooooooooooooooooooooon!

AMD4ME2, amazon finally shipped my sx830! I should have it tomorrow. Now if I only had a mb and processor I'd be all set. I want my turbo!

I saw Tom's recent KT133 mobo slugfest. It seems just a little late coming, but what makes it an interesting read is the sliding scale of speed vs. overclockability.

Sure, the MSI was the slowest, and that doesn't look good, especially considering that Tom's HW made so much of it. But I would add 3 things to consider.

1. With overclockability, wouldn't the best OCer's run the fasted, ultimately?
2. Didn't Tom leave the door wide open on performance with improved BIOS?
3. Lastly, isn't the most important characteristic of a mobo, especially one to be OC'd, stability?

About the RAID, I don't know but if I had to guess, on-board RAID probably wouldn't be considered seriously by people who **depend** on RAID. I hope MSI stuck it on there for more than a marketing ploy. I for one have read postings by people who know RAID and I don't think I would ever use it. Look into it yourself, but it sounds like SCSI would be a better choice for those who really need speed.

if you find a review of the "TURBO" post that too! :)

this years silicon bowl may come down to the MSI Maulers vs. ABIT Attackers

froyo Nah, the regular 133 doesn't support 133Mhz front side bus. It runs the FSB at 100Mhz, but the Athlon/Duron CPUs perform double-data-rate (DDR) on the bus, resulting in the "200Mhz front-side bus" advertised. Where the 133 comes in is that it runs the memory bus at either FSB (100Mhz) or FSB+PCI (100+33) for a 133 memory bus. Yeah, that's convoluted, but basically it runs your memory at 133Mhz and your FSB at 100 "double-pumped". This new 133A revision runs your front-side bus at 133, which the chips also ddr for an "effective" front-side bus speed of 266.

For those who were asking, the MSI does have RAID onboard as well. All the specs are listed by Microstar here.

Two things:

1. The turbo does have Fuzzy Logic 3 (it says so at the very bottom of the page)

2. Has anyone explored the possibility of lowering the multiplier and cranking the FSB of older Durons/T-Birds. For example take an T-Bird 800 (8*100) and make it into a T-Bird 800 (6*133).

I want to win that 1.2ghz Athlon Thunderbird with 133mhz bus that
Bupkus is giving away! :D
