1. I went to germany and lost a bunch of stuff and money and got mugged and lost more money
2. I have quite a bit to pay back to my parents now
3. I have never had a credit card, but I have been VERY bad with my checking acct at wamu: I have let it go negative tons of times and have gotten loads of nonsufficient funds charges

Is it possible for me to get a loan so I can 1. pay back my parents so I don't have to deal with them+money and 2. for school/rent/misc? And where should I look?

I have a very "informal" job and it will earn me about $500/mo. I will try to get a second job so I can earn some more.

>>and please tell me if my crappy treatment of my checking acct will hurt me on getting a loan

well of course, but my question is if other loan providers will look at my records and laugh about giving me a loan if I have had such a bad record with my checking account

My understanding is that bounced checks don't affect your credit report, but it could affect your ability to open another checking account. The bigger problem is you want a loan and have zero credit history.

It's possible that a lender might look at your past checking account history (there are companies who collect that information, just like credit bureaus do for credit accounts) so you have to be prepared for that possibility.

What is an "informal" job? Something that's off the books? So you'd be applying for a loan with no credit history AND no job that they can verify?

Talk to Vinnie downtown at that little bar...I'm sure he can arrange something for you, with the appropriate vigorish of course...and, if you like your kneecaps, DON'T be late with a payment...
