First time trip to Atlantic City... Any tips or pointers and suggestions...?

This is actually my second time going to AC but is gonna be my first real trip where i plan on getting a decent room and staying overnight. Im coming from Maryland so i was wondering where should i look for resources for Atlantic City... would it be better to ride a charter bus there? Anyone have any experience?
I'd prefer not to spend more than a hundred dollars a night for a 2 person room preferabbly in a casino hotel. Also which casinos are reccomended? I only remember going to the trump and showboat and this was like 5 years ago. Anything to watch out for? Thanks... im trying to make a 1 year anniversary something different and exciting for my gf.

AC can be a fun place. I go there fairly often as I am only an hour and a half away. Although when it's this cold it kinda sucks walking from place to place. So, I suggest driving yourself if you have wheels. I hit a few different casinos when I go down there. I usually go to the Hilton (formerly Bally's Grand), the Tropicana, Harrah's and the Taj Mahal. I go to the Claridge somewhat often, as my buddy knows someone there and gets comped out the wazoo for everything. I like Harrah's alot. It's on the other side of town, away from the boardwalk and the rest of the casinos, but it's worth going there. There is also a Hard Rock Cafe and a Planet Hollywood in Atlantic City now as well. Less significantly (in the eyes of your girlfriend at least), there is a Hooters inside the Tropicana.

Call around to all of the different casinos to see what kind of deal you can get. It really doesn't matter where you stay, as once you're there you can go to different places.

I am considering going down there this Thursday for the hell of it. I am long overdue for an AC trip.

the secret is to remember to hit the atm BEFORE midnight. so then you can hit it again AFTER midnight that way even if you have a $300 atm limit like most people, you can still get $600 out in one night

And if at all possible, hit the ATM the day before you go.

Of course, follow this advice only if you want to lose every cent you have. I usually, limit myself to a set amount and don't go past that. If I spend all of the "gambling money" then it's time to go do other stuff.

i've been reading up some reviews at epinions and it looks like the Taj Mahal is the way to go. Any opinions? Also how much do you usually need to spend to start recieving some comp? i know it varies with casinos but is there a general amount?
