Hey guys. This is my first build attempt but encountering some problems.

I plugged everything in and I'm attempting to install Windows 7. However, the Windows install in VERY slow. It never got past that first dialogue box. I've tried switching hdd, I tried switching dvdrom drive. The only things I haven't checked are the install dvd itself, the sata cables, and ram (tested ram, but didn't try removing one of the sticks)

Here are the parts...
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition
GPU: EVGA GTS 450
Motherboard: GIGABYTE 880GA-UD3H
PSU: OCZ stealthxstream ii 600 watt
RAM: 4gb (2x2) Corsair XMS3
Hard Drive:WD Caviar 500GB Serial ATA HD 7200/16MB/SATA-3G
DVD Burner: ASUS 24X DVDRW

Help is appreciated. Thanks guys!

Well I think you're on the right path -

How did you test RAM? Memtest with a boot disc?

If you could get a hold of Hirens Boot CD, you could do a test on the Hard-drive and optical drive as well.

Also, it might be worthwhile to see if your CPU is getting very hot - maybe an improperly seated heat sink is slowing it down.

As with any troubleshooting, go around and re-seat all connections making sure they are solidly connected as well.

Disable the Floppy Disk Drive Support in the BIOS if that don't work try a different CD/DVD Drive
