Solved! First time setup, cannot print word doc

Hello there. I've been recently trying to get a Dell 968w to work on a Windows 10 machine. Apparently there are no official supported drivers from Dell, but Windows 10 recognized it and installed drivers for it and it's recognized.

I also recently got new ink cartridges for it and the printer did a self test and a print page came out fine. Windows cannot print a test page, and the word document also is not printing. I was able to install Office XP on my Windows 10 machine. I only needed Word to edit a document and print it.

I've connected the printer to the PC by USB. I've also tried using a USB thumb drive into the USB port on the printer to print that way but the printer says it needs to be connected to a PC.

I can't see where there is a disconnect not allowing me to print this word doc. Any ideas?

Do you get any sort of status message in Windows 10, regarding the printer's availability?

Under Settings, Devices and Printers, Printers?

Don't remember but it's listed in my 'Devices and Printers', and in Device Manager.

Well there are no official driver support drivers but the driver download from Dell does work. I guess maybe there is a fee to pay to have them official?

The printer is working perfectly.
