I took advantage of the deal at CC this week, and picked up a 9800NP. I've been a faithful Nvidia user up until now and have a few questions.

Here's my system specs:

Epox 8RDA Nforce2 board
2000+ XP (not OC'ed)
1024mb PC2700
9800NP
WinXP

FYI, I didn't do a reformat and reinstall from scratch. Instead, I used the latest version of Driver Cleaner to remove the Nvidia drivers. So far, all my games appear to run fine.

(1) What driver would you recommend I use? Currenly using the latest Omega drivers based off the 3.9's.

(2) One of the things I loved about the Nvidia control panel was the option to up the color correction values to give me brighter and more vivid colors. How exactly would I do this in the Catalyst control panel?

(3) Kinda new to this Radeon thing....anything else you'd recommend?

1. The Omega 3.9s are fine.
2. On the colors tab.
3. Turn fast writes off. Check to see if yoyu have the right memory to flash it to pro.

 Why would you want to do that?? To answer your question, I think it'll turn off if you just set "Application Preference"

Yes-turn it off in both bios and control panel.

ATI doesn't have a "digital vibrance" control like nvidia does.

If you use rage3dtweak (or powerstrip) you can experiment with overclocking if your card isn't clock locked.

Exeriment with the new smartshader effects in the 3.9s (they're fun) ;)

good luck

I know it has a minimal effect on performance, but why cant Radeons handle fast writes without anomolies on the screen?

Honest question. I had a problem with my 9700np and my 865PE mobo. Vertical lines with fast writes on but went away with fast writes off.

Anyone?

Thanks.
