First time playing Deus Ex, any tips?

Just started playing Deus Ex: HR and so far I feel like I'm just running around missing a lot of things (not really a fan of the MGS/Rainbow 6 type style where you have to hide, evade, and stealth kill, but whatever) and also I'm not completely understanding the augmentation system. It does seem like it can be fun though, and I did pay $30 for it so I'm not just going to put it down (though I don't see how this got labeled as an RPG, mislead customers much Square?) but a guide that glosses over some things to look out for and maybe explains some of the concepts better would be nice. Or, if any of your enjoy the game and feel you can explain what I'm asking for please go for it. Thanks.

Oh, Deus Ex 3.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to say that all people referring to Deus Ex 3 as Deus Ex need to be kicked in the balls. Repeatedly.

As for OP: Many people do walkthroughs and play tips on Youtube nowadays. Thats how I found most of the secrets in Serious Sam.

My advice is level up your hacking skills first. This allows you to get into areas, computers, etc to pick up more of the story/rpg elements much quick and easier.

You have the freedom to not go stealth and go straight offense. There's alot of options and different ways you can approach the game.

If your a completionist like me, you'll pretty much have enough pts for most of the augmentations by the end of the game.

There's really no right or wrong way to play this game. I would just pick the style you want to play and go from there.

A lot of people say this, but the truth is that the game pushes you so hard in the stealth direction that no other style winds up really paying off.

Yeah the first two games were much easier and more rewarding if you chose stealth. I can only assume the third one is similar.

I'm on my second playthrough and this time as a purely stealth/hacking character. Very fun. It's unfortunate the second boss fight was so hard but nothing a full Typhoon upgrade (3 praxis points) couldn't handle. 🙂

Why didn't you just use the taser? It makes the boss fights so easy I'm amazed there wasn't a "Don't tase me bro" Easter egg in there somewhere.

The stun effect does not last long enough. There is only so much I could empty into the boss before he/she recovers and instant kill me (I'm playing at highest difficulty).

I suppose I could time the stunning carefully (and patiently) but killing the boss with merely two Typhoon shots at a cost of 3 praxis point is an acceptable alternative for me.

second boss was easy. I just ran after her when she was cloaked. Tazed her. Emptied my pistol into her head until she ran. Followed her. Tazed her, and the second time I started shooting her with my pistol she died.

Didn't even have to bust out the typhoon.

Was your character built for combat? Mine is a pure stealth/hacker type (no dermal armor, fast sprint, recoil augs and the like).
