First time overclocking. I read the "quick and dirty" sticky and followed another guide over on dfi-street, and I think I've done it right, but first my specs and then hopefully you people can let me know.

Opteron 165 w/ stock HSF
DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC3200) Platinum
WD Raptor 74GB
XFX GeForce 7800 GT 256MB
Antec 3800B

After a weekend of trial and error, I got it up to 2.65GHz with ram running at 221MHz, and both Prime95 and Memtest are stable after about 9 hours of testing on both. Here are my settings:

FSB/HTT: 295
LDT: 3.0
CPU Multiplier: x9.0
CPU is at 1.38 Volts

RAM at 150 (3/4)
2.5-3-2-5-7
RAM at 2.66V

I didn't try increasing the voltage to the ram, and the timings I left at stock. Is everything as it should be? I was a bit confused about the LDT, and I kind of feel like the ram isn't running as fast as it could.

That's awesome (and quite similar to my Opty 165 build and overclock.) You did two instances of Prime95 to test both cores, right?

Yep I did. What are you using to overclock your 7800GT to get 4643 on 3dmark? mine's pulling in only about 4100.

Does SuperPi need to be run with 2 instances to test both cores? Because my second instance always craps out with a SQRT error :(

And also, which test am I supposed to be running with dual Prime95? I am currently using a custom Torture Test and set memory to 400 for each instance, making me run at 100% cpu load and 1g PF under task manager. For finding your CPU max do I need to run Small FFT to not mess with RAM?

THanks.. couldn't find any info on tests anywhere heh. Oh, I'm on an Opty165.

I downloaded CoolBits 2.0 from guru3d.com. It adds a tab to your Nvidia display options that let's you set frequency settings.

I don't really do SuperPi, so I dunno. For Prime95, yes, a custom torture test with the memory split in half is the right way to do it.

Sweet, thanks for that. I used Coolbits to detect optimal frequencies for me and now it's running at 490MHz / 1.13GHz and my 3DMark Score went from 4104 to 4384.
