FIRST TIME OCing EVER PLEASE HELP

Howdy all. Never OCed before and don't want to start out without any help. Looked at a bunch of different sites, but wanted actual real life testimony before i began.

my rig is . . .

AMD 64 3000+ w/Thermaltake Venus 8 fan (thermal grease applied)
MSI K8T Neo 2 (its the via chipset and i thinked they have fixed the PCI/AGP lock)
Corsair Value Select PC 3200 1GB VS512MB400C3 two sticks



also, i just bought a BFG Geforce 6800 OC and want to know if anyone has had success unlocking any pipes?

I ordered a Thermaltake venus 8+ and then read that thermaltake is a POS. So that was upsetting. With that do you guys think the $50 for the Zalman is worth it?
