<note - first post, but been watching for a few months>

Just wanted to post about some (initial at least) success. Penciled the duron and got everything into the Fong Kai case okay (but damn was the fop32 hard as hell to get on. Already killed 1 duron, didn't want to repeat that). Made sure everything posted okay, then played with some switches. Posting at 800 and running okay so far, installing win98 now. We'll see how it goes.

Quick question though, i notice that the sink is rather cool to the touch right now, is that okay? I know under load that would be a bad nono, but what about almost idle?

Well, if you're not having any problems with it right now, and it isn't crashing or locking up,
(that comes later when running Win 98) :p then it shouldn't be a problem. Do you have a mother-
board with an onboard CPU temperature sensor? (ABIT KT7,ASUS A7V?) If so you can monitor the temp from the bios, or in Windows, by installing the hardware monitor program off of the cd that comes with the board. My 600 Duron at 770Mhz runs between 40-43*C(104-109*F) , using a CoolerMaster DP5-6H53 HS.

Yeah, It's an asus a7v. Forgot to put the probe in to begin w/ kinda shoved it between after the fact. I don't think i have it plugged into the right place though because the asus probe program is giving me a consistant 41c reading, so far everytime. Guess it's time to run some 3dmark and see what happens.

As for crashes.. well.. asus probe died a few mins ago and took windows w/ it when i tried to look at voltage settings. Prolly not a good sign. But we shall see.
