I'll be the first one to admit that I speed all the time, but that is some really stupid logic.

No it isn't. It makes sense, and logic like that is how they set the speed limits.

Ours would consist of a state trooper running radar gun with local PD/sheriff doing the ticket honors...
Thankfully I haven't witnessed this myself yet. Where have you seen it?

Down in wayne county...usually in Taylor...tho with the construction on 75 down there, I dont know if they have the room for that anymore. They also like to sit around the monroe county border with ohio since the speed limit changed from 70 in michigan to 55 once u cross into ohio.

Well, I guess that's good. I don't spend much time down around there and I've never seen this further north. I've definitely heard of it before and it's a concern of mine since I definitely won't see that coming.

damn I feel lucky then. Several years ago, around 1998, a buddy and I were leaving Miami for NC. He was in a new Volvo something or another, and I was in my 97 Grand Prix GT. We were hitting close to 100 going back up 95 weaving in and out of cars. I have since changed my ways (and cars). Got a careless and reckless ticket in NC (equal to 4 points on your license) a couple months later and that put a stop to my crazy-ass driving.

well technically he has a point. if a good majority are going faster than the speed limit then they could possibly get it changed.

What are you smoking? Can I have some? They could raise the speed limit 100 MPH and people would still speed.

They pull traps like that on alligator alley on I75 between Ft. Lauderdale and Ft. Meyers in S. FL.

We were just up in Melbourne, glad they weren't doing it then.

When I was commuting there everyday, I would always see that black Mustang GT speeding around getting people. They also have several Mauraders (sp?) that are FHPs tagging people.

Btw, I've seen that before. I also like when Brevard County Sheriffs leave their empty cars in the medians on I-95 to get people to slow down.

Well it tends to be the only road in Melbourne you can speed on. Most of the other roads (192, Wickham Rd., Eau Gallie Blvd., Sarno Rd., Malabar Rd.) are so laden with traffic in the 8am to 6pm time frames it would be impossible to speed even if you wanted to. How badly they are clogged depends on if there is an accident anywhere on the road, if it is a school day, or if it is snowbird time of year.

I always get a chuckle seeing a cop car on the side with a radar gun when it is bumper to bumper.

Wrong. It means we need harsher consequences.

BTW: Wonder what the black mustang is for.

Dont travel on many highways do you? I seen that for years comming up to an over pass with a cop on it with his gun then quickly looking right to see the line up like a lion ready to pounce on fresh meat.

Agree. If it's base on ppl's average speed then I95 here in MD should change to 75mph. Only about 10% of all the cars accually doing speed limit and most are understandablely by staying on the 2nd right lane.

I see this kind of speed trap yearly. Cop always pick the nicest day.

Thats typical around here, especially at the end of the month. Just remember, cops don't have quotas to meet...

I was driving on I-5 in Seattle once at 2 AM. I saw a little Honda Civic blow past me with a cop literally 10 feet off of the back bumper. Both were doing at least 90. All of the cars around me sped up to see what would happen with the Honda. All of the sudden 4-5 cops came out of nowhere from behind us and pulled everyone over. Luckily, I was not one of the ones that got pulled over. I have never seen anything like it before or since.

Good thing they are doing that instead of protecting us from real criminals.

This proves its all about the money.

I'm pretty sure there are more tham 7 cops in that town.
There are plenty left to catch the "real criminals."

Just so we're clear, speeding is a crime, right?

Sure...so lets throw them in jail and give them the death penalty....

If you looked in the law books, you would find many crimes that you are probably guilty of right now. Should you be in jail?

I'd say that over half the miles on my vehicle(s) come from interstate travel. I must always miss these setups...
