First time help

Need help as I'm going to buy a notebook for first time. Dunno anything of what to keep and what not to keep in mind while buying. Till now I was happy gaming on my Rig, but now I need some portability.

My outlines are :-
1. Budget within $ 900.
2. GPU has to be discrete but only for entry level gaming.
3. Screen size 15-16 ".
4. Good battery backup(good means if the company says 2 hrs while gaming then it should not be less than that).
5. No need for "Geeky" designs or textures.
6. No HD camera required.
7. Decent sound quality(may not be Fully Surround sound).
8. Screen should be FHD,or atleast HD+.
9. Exhausts must be at sides(Dont want any hassles with lapdesks).
10. Brand preference - Asus,Dell,Lenovo,Sony.

Any and all replies are welcome.

the only thing i could find from a newegg filter of your requirements
the lenovo y580 comes pretty close at ~$950 though
the requirement for >1366x768 means you should look no lower than an AMD 6650/nvidia 540 type GPU

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Series...msung+series+7
screen res 1600x900
doesn't exhaust from the sides, but I haven't seen anything about heat issues from a quick google

I was thinking of Dell XPS 17. I know its old model, but its good to have a 17" screen on a decent GPU.Can I customize that GPU ?? i mean if I tell them I want GTX 630M, will they do it ??(Offcourse I will have to spare some more dough)

Another question is - Ivy Bridge is capable of PCIe 3.0, so will I do a mistake by buying a Sandy Bridge and a Kepler ?

Thanx for your reply.

unless the graphics card is already available as an option, it'd probably require superhuman levels of persuasion to get Dell to refit an old laptop with a GTX 630.

PCIe 2.0 will not bottleneck any current single GPU configuration.

this get's pretty close to $900 and you get a GTX 550
