Will be used mostly for office work: typing documents, presentations, and internet browsing. Will be occasionally used for watching HD videos. Biggest requirement is longevity. Should be powerful enough to not get outdated and be able to handle new software(OS, program, websites) for atleast 6-7 years. Since I have to carry it around quite a bit, I'd prefer something light and small sized. Battery life is not a pressing issue, since I rarely work while travelling. I need reliability and good build quality.

Budget is around 30,000 Indian rupees.(440 USD) Here are some options:

Buy from the business lines. Latitude, Thinkpad, or Probook lines. SSD required. Not sure you're going to be able to get something that will last for 6-7 years for $440.

Looks like you'll be buying from India, so ThinkPads will be way out of budget despite being the best machines for your requirements. I'd suggest you to look for Dell's Vostro line. Stay away from HP, they get very hot and lack longevity. Acer and Toshiba are becoming difficult to find, but generally have robust machines.

Edit: Looks like you might be able get the 'E' series ThinkPad in your budget. Find the product listing on Lenovo's website here. Amazon is selling the same model as well. ThinkPads are pretty future proof machines and are the preferred choice of many professionals.
