First Time Building PC! Anyone know of a good guide...

Hello to all! I will attempt to build my first pc this coming week and I was wondering if anyone has come across a good online guide, or knows of a book that explains all the know-how of putting a pc together from all the parts. Any assistance in this area will be greatly appreaciated. TIA.

The best book I have found, it is thick, expensive, and full of information. But worth every dime. its titled "Upgrading and Repairing PCs" by Scott Mueller, its great. There are also
"dummies" books, which I think are a great reference for begginers. If you need any help, check back here, these forums can also be an important tool. Good luck.

I just finished building one myself. A couple I can remember: amd website has one. Mike's hardware is another (mikeshardware.com). I came across a few more but do not remember.

Here is a site with lots of tutorials:

Your motherboard manual should detail where the components go and what your optimum bios settings should be. Kind of like putting new sparkplugs in your car; not very difficult. 1st time build might take an hour. Hardest part might be figuring out where the LED wires go.

So put it together, fire it up, go into bios and make settings, put Windows boot disk in floppy drive, Windows CD in rom drive, and CHARGE!
