I am on a pretty tight budget, and I have all of the peripherals already. Do you see any problems with the set up I have listed here? The total cost for everything listed after mail-in rebates is $860. Obviously I will wait to the end of the month for the price drops. Here are the components...

Power Supply/Case- $90

Hard Drive 250GB 16mb cache- $65

Video Card EVGA 8800gts 320mb- $260

RAM 2 x 1 GB 240-pin ddr2-800 $90

P35 chipset MB- $130

Processor- E6600- $222

This is also w/o an OS but I will take care of that.

Will the power supply with the case work? I'm not worried about the case being cool looking, but it seems this is a good case/power supply combo. I am not necessarily going to be overclocking.

Any advice on where to go from here would be great!

I would suggest buying a better case and PSU.

Are you overclocking? The PSU that comes with the case will work, but they're routinely sub-par and won't hold up for a long time, especially with an overclock

Also, wait for the July 22nd price drops, and get an E6750.

Thanks for the input guys! How much is the 6750 going to be? What will the main difference be between that and the 6600?

Also, could you guys recommend a budget case/psu combo? I am trying to keep the price down, and like I said, looks isn't overly important to me. I just don't want a beige case.

Thanks all!

I suppose I could do a lot more research into it, but off the top of my head, a Coolermaster Centurion 5 case with side window (no hole on the side) and Fortron Blue Storm II 500 watts.

I suppose you can go cheaper on the PSU, but I haven't done the research to find much cheaper ones that are still acceptable.

The E6750 (2.66Ghz, 1333fsb) will be less than what the E6600 is now. IIRC, about $185, compared to the current $222 tag on the E6600.

I know I havnt posted in a while, but Im pretty sure this is still true.

Dont EVER skimp on a power supply, it is arguably the MOST important component in a computer. A cheap power is like cancer, it slowly kills your components by feeding them poison(crappy power).
