Hello everyone , new user here and I am here to get a second opinion on this PC that I plan to build in the next month. My main goal is to build this pc to run BF3 on High settings running 45+FPS constant. I realize the final pc requirements arent yet released but I think we all know about what it will be. So here it is.

Case: NZXT Apollo Black SECC Steel Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
$59.99

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990X SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
$139.99

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX
$134.99

GPU: SAPPHIRE 100314-3L Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
$174.99

PSU: Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-750 750W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE
$94.99

Ram: Patriot Gamer 2 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PGD38G1600ELK
$59.99

Western Digital Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
$54.99

CD/DVD Drive: SONY Black SATA DVD-ROM Drive Model DDU1681S-0B - OEM
$16.99

TOTAL: $853.19 Shipped

Couple of questions, is this build compliant?

Are there any suggestions you have to any of the parts? I am trying to stay around the $850-$900 range on this machine, but I also want best bang for the buck....

I dont want to blow this budget completely away from what I have it set at, but is the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz worth the extra $55?

Is that a good mobo? I dont know much about them I just know that I want it BD compliant for a future upgrade and I know I wanted the AM3+ to insure that.

Did I do okay with the PSU or is that thing way overkill? i dont know how to calculate for a PSU, I just kind of guessed it would be enough.

This is my first build, do I need to buy extra fans, or thermal paste or is what comes with this kit enough?

Thanks in advance for any replies, I know this is a long post but I also know that computer enthusiast's like me love to read stuff like this and love to mess around with the idea of components and giving out ideas.

For gaming, you're better off with intel right now, I wouldn't get an Phenom to then upgrade to BD (who knows how long that is gonna take anyways). That PSU is overkill, you could use a 500-550 one to be safe. That case already comes with fans so you don't need any, thermal paste usually comes pre applied in the heatsink.

You have a fine budget for an intel build, here is build:

MB: GIGABYTE GA-Z68P-DS3 $110

CPU: i5 2500k $220

Memory: G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) $50

GFX: Sapphire 6870 $154.99 AR

Case: Of Choice

HD : Samsung F3 $60

PSU: Antec BP550 Plus 550W $50AR

SSD : SAMSUNG 470 Series $110 (inputs? didn't want to recommend with the SF-2281 controller with all the issues it has.)

Subtotal: $755 AR Without shipping

If you wanna OC: Hyper212+

You have like $100 to pick a case.

Wow thats a really great looking system. I would have preferred Intel over AMD but I didnt think it was in my budget. I still have to buy windows 7 so I had to cut the SSD out. Oh well I gues it wont make that big of a deal with gaming and such. Thanks for the reply:)

 Good build. I would probably swap the PSU out with the XFX Core 550W, but no complaints beyond that.
