I am getting ready to put together my first system and I wanted to get the "okay" on the compatibility of the components. Here's what I've got in mind:
amd 1GHz cpu
iWill kk-266 mboard
Thermoengine cooler
Hercules Prophet 4500 Kyro II video card
enlight 7237 case
viking 256mb ram

I have a concern about making sure the case and mboard are going to fit. The dimensions for the mboard are 305mmx240mm. Is this an unnecessary worry? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Brett

Just look at the form factors.

Your mobo is ATX, it should say somewhere. That is the biggest (normal) size of mobo. mATX or micro atx is smaller and made for smaller cases.

Then look at your case. I am 90% sure it supports ATX. That means any mobo ATX or smaller will fit in it, i.e. ATX or micro ATX

it doesn't look like you're gonna have any problems. enlight is an atx case, the iwill is an atx mobo. it will fit.

BTW - I like Crucial ram over viking.

And the IWIll board is kind of outdated. Depends on how much OCing you want to do. It is a solid board, and was one of the best ~ 3 months ago. Now it is just kind of average with all the DDR boards out etc.

yeah... you might want to go with a DDR board... it depends on how much money you want to spend vs performance... You going to newegg.com to purchase parts? You can get all those parts for dirt cheap there.

Yeah My Iwill Board is not outdated. It is a great board and probaly the best SDRAM board there is for socket A! I know SDRAM is old, but the KT133A is a great chipset! DDR chipsets have bben dissapointing if you ask me! Until the Nforce arrives a SDRAM board is still a good buy!

Isnt the Iwill kk266 a DDR board? Which ones are the DDR boards then?

I would also recommend dropping the extra $30 at newegg for the 1.33Ghz... its probably worth it. Also find out if the Kyro II is better than the Radeon LE tweaked to a full Radeon. Get Crucial Ram. Do not get a volcano II heatsink.. get something better (other people can recommend). If you have the money go with the Antec sx830 case (although it is much larger than the Enlight).. I think its worth it.
