Hello all, I posted a good while back asking for some ideas and was not able to come up with the cash I would have needed to put that machine together. I now have some cash and have an idea of what I think I would like to have component wise for putting together my first computer.

Here is what I have in mind atm:

CPU- Athlon 64 3000+ retail
Mobo- what would you all recommend? how is the Asus K8T800?
Video Card- 9800pro 128mb
HD- I have 2 80gb Seagate 8MB(the ones that BB had on clearence)
Case- suggestions?
Memory- suggestions? as prices continue to rise, I would like 1GB
CD/DVD- suggestions? should I get a single drive? or duel?

My system will be a gaming system for the most part. I would like to keep everything as close to $1000 as I can(not including the HD's as I already have them)

If you go AMD 64bit, you can either go the K8T800 route or the nForce3 150 route. I'd wait for the nForce3 250 line to come out (very soon), but if you need it now, the AOpen AK86-L is a great budget board with a good variety of features.

I'd go with this case, a 350W PSU might not be enough, so you could probably unload that for ~$30 - $40 right here on AT FS/FT and buy a bigger and better PSU for $20 - $30 more.

Memory, go PC3200, if you want to really overclock, then don't go the A64 route ;)

As for the Optical Drives, I'd go dual. 1 DVD-Rom the other CD-RW (or DVD-RW). Why? On-the-Fly burning ;)
