First time build problem

I just finished assembly on my new rig and ran into a snag. I'm running:

Antec case w/350W PSU
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo
AMD 3200+
Corsair XMS PC-3200 512 MB
ATI Radeon 9800 pro

After hitting the power button, the first thing I notice is that I'm not getting any video from the unit. I've checked on two different monitors, and each stays in sleep mode even with the system power on. Verified that all of my fans (including the 9800's) are spinning on power up and that all connections (IDE and molex) are good. Upon startup, I hear the fans start, the HD clicks a couple of times, then nothing.

A secondary note, I'm not hearing any of the POST messages that I'm under the impression I should be hearing during power up.

Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Some motherboards won't post unless they have been reset a certain way. Turn on the machine, and then hit the reset button.

Edit: I have the same mobo, and I had trouble getting it to post the first time. Just keep wiggling the ram, the vid card, restart and reset until it works. Once it posts, it won't give you any more trouble.

Edit2: disconnect everything that is unneccessary. Unplug the floppy, harddrive, cdrom, and any cards besides the video card. Also start with just one stick of ram until it gets going.

Also, ensure that you got your video card's auxiliary power cable hooked up, and firmly bottom the video card in its slot. New AGP slots can be stiff, and there are two layers of contacts in there, so be sure it's all the way in. If you can see any of the gold "fingers" on the edge of the card where it meets the slot, it's not in all the way.

if all the above don't work:

1.make sure you have both power cables plugged in (12v and 5v).
2.clear the cmos.
3. if that doesn't work, take out everything and reinstall the cpu. (i know it sounds weird but i can't tell you how many times that has worked)
4. start everythign up with just the cpu, then plug in each card one by one.

my friend jsut had the same problem this past week and that's exactly what i did to get it working. he doesn't have the same board though.
