First steps into the world of LCD

So as you've probably figured from my title I am looking to purchase my first LCD monitor. So, to the point...

What I am looking for: 20IN Widescreen (1680x1050)

What I am looking at: Dell 2007WFP (will not pay more than this)

What I will be using it for: Web browsing, watching movies, photo editing, and gaming. The main thing to consider though is that I want to purchase a Xbox 360 within the next month (I'm always late on the console bandwagon) and will be playing it on the monitor while money trickles into the HDTV fund. Therefore the monitor must have both a DVI (PC) and VGA (360) input to avoid wire swapping foolishness.

So basically I am asking if the 2007FPW is the way to go, or if there are comparable or better monitors out there for less money. I've heard buzz around the Samsung SM205BW but again, I'm new to this LCD stuff.

Thanks in advance,

arc.

The Dell E207WFP is the exact same panel, just without the USB hub, s-video input, and composite video input. That will shave some $$ off of the price, and still give you the panel and inputs (DVI + VGA) that you need.

Hold on a sec here... I'm fairly certain they are different panels. 5ms response time on the 207 compared to ~16 on the 2007 makes it seem like the 207 is a 6-bit TN panel?

Or am I looking at something completely different here? I see the 2007 rated at 5ms some places and 16ms others.

The 2007WFP sounds perfect for you. The e207WFP is horribly inferior in image quality. It does not use the same panel.

From the spec page "16.7 million with dithering"... makes it look like a 6-bit panel.

Edit: Nevermind, just read a review that said it used an 8-bit panel. Reviews seem kind of mixed though in terms of image quality.
