First RADEON 9700TX benchmarks!!!

Alright, I got my Dell 8250 with Radeon 9700TX in it, so I pulled it out and put it in my system - P4 3.0GHz, 150MHz FSB, 512MB Samsung DDR400 RAM etc. Clean install of Windows XP with the latest drivers. Here are few benches:

3DMark 2001SE - 14,138
UT2003
1024x768: fly-by - 198.81/botmatch - 74.87
1280x960: fly-by - 147.25/botmatch - 73.92
1600x1200: fly-by - 99.49/botmatch - 66.60

Are these good benches? I don't know. I upgraded from GF3 Ti200, so it's a pretty nice jump. What puzzles me is that neither Rade3D Tweak, nor PowerStrip DO NOT KNOW the frequency of this card! So, I don't know what I'm running at and there is no way to overclock this puppy. If anyone has any idea, let me know. And BTW, the RAM on this card is Infineon 3.6ns = 277MHz DDR. Hopefully I can push it to 300MHz once I find a way to overclock it...

Could be because I didn't uninstall nVidia drivers, I just took GF3 out, put Radeon 9700TX in, that's it 🙂 Also, I have programs running in the background, I just did a quick test. I believe the core is at 263MHz as well as RAM, so that would account for the difference as well. I'm on track to do a clean install of Windows anyway, so that's why I didn't bother uninstalling drivers.

Update Powerstrip Luk and you should get the OC functionality... My clocks get to 345 core / 335 memory stable I believe something is very wierd with that card of yours...wish I knew what card that really is... 🙁

It's an OEM version of Radeon 9700 with slightly slower core and memory frequencies. My guess is that both are at 263MHz compared to 325/310 of Radeon 9700 Pro. However, looking at Anand's review of Radeon 9500 Pro, my scores look good compared to regular Radeon 9700. I'm not complaing, plus I'm sure my benches will go up with a clean install. I didn't plan on upgrading, but couldn't pass up on opportunity like this when I saw it at Dell.

I got the latest version. Maybe there's a conflict with nVidia drivers. Anyway, I'll do a clean install shortly, so I'll find out.

No wonder there is 3,000 3DMarks difference between the two of us. My Radeon 9700TX is clocked 80MHz slower on the core and 70MHz (140MHz effective) slower on the RAM. Now I don't feel so bad.

i'm getting 12671 with a XP1600+ and ge4 4400, so i would say those numbers are way slow. the cpu is oc'd to 1816 and that's over a gig difference for your extra 300 points. not bad for a $50 cpu hey 😉

Let's compare out UT2k3 benches and then we'll talk 😉 😛

No, but I will. I didn't think that with Windows XP you have to worry about it...

Anyway to buy it if you have an existing Dell system???

Not in Canada anyways... Pathetic. The best they could get was a Radeon 7500. 😕
Parts department SUCKS - at least in Canada.
