Um, you have to sign a contract for pretty much any internet service you sign up for. What's so bad exactly?

In regards to your area - I don't recall PA being on the hotlist for FIOS. East Coast (Boston, NY) are the prime spots, not sure where PA is in the pipeline for being wired up for FIOS. SBC could be doing that work in that area, I don't know who the bigger telecom company is in that area.

What I mean is you're locked in for a year probably with an early termination fee.

1 year commitment.

I dont see why something like that would be a problem tho. Speed rocks. Price is same as cable in most parts.
Why would you want to cancel and switch ?

Exactly. A few cable companies I know of also make you do a 1 year commitment, there's a few which do M2M (at least in the Dallas area) but it's more expensive per month.

Verizon is the only telecom company in the region.

Their only competitors are Roadrunner cable in the city, and Adelphia powerlink in the suburbs.

In other words, they have no incentive to give us faster speeds anytime soon, since their competitors cant even keep working lines.

He got busted a few weeks ago and was left at Ocho Rios for trying to board with a bag-o-bud seeds. I have no idea what that is but the drug enforcement teams were onto him like flies on the brown stuff.

I guess his batteries in the remote controls for the blacktip reef sharks are still going strong. At least the bull sharks have stopped biting people. We have a 45% "no swim" rate at Great Stirrup Cay because people are scared of the sharks.
