First post from my new Ibook

I am posting wirelessly while watching TV. This is fun! Only took about ten minutes out of the box to get everything setup. So far running smoothly on 128MB ram, gonna add 256 module in few minutes. All I have to say is the fit and finish is very nice!

With $100 rebate from Microcenter, got it for $699. And they included a free Canon I250 printer.

edit: The notebook came preinstalled with 640mb ram. Hhehe!

699$ with a printer thrown in??? Wow... we can only dream of those Apple prices here in germany.

I praise your Ferenginess 🙂

Nice! Apple laptops are tops (pun intended) 🙂 I have been using an 800MHz G4 Titanium for almost 2 years now, and it's still more than enough for what I do. The only thing I'd like to have is built-in (non-dongle) Bluetooth, but I can live with what I've got for a while longer...

Yeah, 128 MB is slow for OS X. 384 is necessary for general OS X stuff, and 640 is great if you do some heavier duty stuff. How did you get the thing so cheap? Which model?

BTW, I'm in an airport waiting for my next flight, surfing on my TiBook 1 GHz with Bluetooth thru my GPRS phone (Sony Ericsson T610). 🙂

long live apple notebooks
<=== 1.25Ghz 15" Powerbook

Phone acts as the modem and connects to the laptop via bluetooth frequency, allowing the laptop to use the phone's signal. I forget what the speed range for bluetooth is maybe 1mb?

Congrats. Got my 17 inch Powerbook back in December, and love it. Glad to see another AT member move to the "dark side."

It's a 900 Mhz G3, 128ram, 40GB hdd, 24xcdrw/8xdvd, 12.1" TFT, 32MB Radeon 7200, airport wireless. I must say the Airport wireless is much better than the built-in wireless I had with my Sharp notebook. Just copied over a few gigs worth of information. So far everything is compatible with the Mac. Sweet!

Oh wow I just saw this. Went to install the ram module, and there was already a 512 mb module installed. So right now I am running 640!! I get to take back the 256 module i bought. Kickass!

lets not go that far.

sure it was a great deal, too bad it was a mac 😛

The more I use it, the more I enjoy it. I haven't even used the terminal yet, which should be a lot of fun 😀

I can't wait till I get my Thinkpad T41.

I was actually considering an iBook, but I just can't stand 1024X768 res for anything.
