cool man, whats ur up/down?

Im on cox cable and it blows hardcore. These losers overloaded my node, and have totally oversold their bandwidth..buncha asshats. And they charge $5 a month more just cuz @home went under, so we now pay $5more for half the speed. makes sense to me.

True, but now you don't have to wait nearly as long to read it.

Congrats, man! I was doing Comcast support about a month ago and, yes, the service seriously sucks donkey balls. I'm glad I'm back with AT&T.

Enjoy.

You do realize once you get broadband, you can never go back to dialup. :D

Well, I'm testing from my slower computer (166MHz, 32MB) so I'm not sure if that's affecting anything, but here's the report from DSLR:

DSLR speedtest

820k down, 119k up :D

They just got cable modem in my area.. and they have this promotion, $19.95/month for 6 months and $34.95/month afterward. So I called in and have them replace my DSL line. I am getting anywhere between 2.5Mbs to 5Mbps downstream and 128Kbps upstream (they capped it so we can't run servers).

Can they/will they not piggyback it on your voice line? That would save that ridiculous $40.00/mo charge for the unbundled loop.

Is this a business service or residential?

Hey Luden, you need to move west a little. I'm in Ashland (Southwestern Oregon) and have Ashland Fiber Net cable modem service. I get about 3-4Mbps down and between 800Kbps - 1.5Mbps up. It's $25 a month plus $10 a month for the modem.

Jumpr, just remember, if you ever move, make sure you can get broadband. It will make you crazy if you ever have to use dialup again.

Well, I'm going to college in three months, so I think it'll make me crazy to go back to anything less than 1.5 Mbps. Actually I tested it this morning, and at DSLR, I'm getting 1.04 Mbps!

Only bad part - the router (Belkin 4port) is a bit flaky - had to reset it once already...I was surfing fine and then the conneciton just cut out. Anyone have any ideas why that may happen?
