First pic with my Nikon D5100

After messing around with different settings/modes just to get the feel of the camera, the following is my first picture on my new Nikon D5100 w/ the kit lens. Nothing amazing, just a simple pic of my favorite pooch.

So far I am REALLY liking the camera. Still getting used to some minor things but its a very easy to use camera and so far I'm very impressed with the quality. I was a little concerned about the size being too small at first, but my hands have started to find comfortable places to grip so that's becoming a non-issue. I'm still amazed that I can shoot at ISO1600+ without hesitation now, something I'm not used to from my old D70/D80/XSi, but it really opens up some creative options. The articulating LCD is handy and although i haven't been using it much yet, I can see myself taking advantage of it down the road. I'm actually finding that due to the small viewfinder, I've tended to go into Live View to frame my shots, but it hasn't really hindered anything, just changes the way I shoot. Most importantly, having come from a quick foray into a Canon XSi, I feel much more comfortable with this camera as I originally started with Nikon. Nothing against the XSi, but it just never felt right.

And with that very minor review, I present Riley 🙂

Nice! It looks like the D5100 seems to be in an interesting spot, between bodies of the T3i/60D/7D and the D90/D7000 😀

Nice, I've been wondering about the physical feel myself, as I have a D70s right now that I'm pretty used to. Probably should see if they have one at Best Buy that I can get my hands on (literally).
