How well it does with frame rates and settings will depend on the game and the resolution you're playing at.

Rather than GTX 970 SLI, get a single 980ti or wait for the 1080/Pascal GPU's to come out. With a single card you can go with a lower watt PSU.

I have two of the gpu on this setup. My problem is most gpu are over 250mm and my case is not big enough for that. I do not want a different case either.

Is this not a good build?

I don't want to spend 600 plus on a single gpu. I'm sorry but I want everything under 1600.

Can someone explain how 6 gb video ram card is better than two 4 gb card?

You can get a 980ti for $520-$550 pretty easily on sale. Two 970s will cost more, use more power, and be slower.

You really should Google '980ti vs 970 sli' before spending your money. Combining two 4 Gb cards doesn't make it a 8 Gb card. That's not how SLI technology works.

Preferred brand? I'm trying to get best performance to price. I want to be able to run games as close to ultra like fallout 4, witcher 3 and rainbow six siege

I go with whatever is on sale, has a good warranty, and has quiet fans. MSI, Asus, EVGA, Gigabyte, and even Zotac if is significantly cheaper than the others. The different speeds that all the cards run at doesn't really make that big a difference outside a couple extra frames per second.

Newegg on their Ebay store has the MSI GeForce GTX 980TI GAMING 6G GOLDEN EDITION for $560 - $30 MIR. Probably the best deal right this second.

What if I changed my build entirely and kept the 1600 budget. Can you provide me with an Intel build?

I could critique a build you put together, but I can't put one together for you. It does take time and research. I built my last computer in September, and I read a ton of stuff for a week before I selected my items.

There are a ton of threads on new build critiques in the 'General Hardware' section on this site that should help you with what others are going with.

and ultimately you wont build your best system with your first build, this comes with experience. For example, over the years (been doing this for 25years) i found out that silence was golden to me, so my case is a fractal design R4 right now.

But my suggestion, wait one more month for the new nvidia cards and then buy. The pricing will drop on the current models and you will have the option of buying the new generation card then.

:D One month eh?

I also recommend a single 980 Ti over 970 SLI, but...

Here you have one for about 1500

I will never understand the obsession with unnecessarily high wattage power supplies (not just knocking you, btw, OP picked a 1000W PSU with two 970s). Nvidia recommends a 600W PSU for a single 980 Ti, and that is based on mid-range PSUs. A high quality 600W unit would be even better.

In real-world tests, a system with an overclocked i7 3770K @ 4.6GHz, and a factory overclocked Asus 980 Ti overclocked even more pulls a maximum of 488W at the wall. That means actual consumption with their 1200W test PSU (based on 90% efficiency) is 439 watts DC, for the entire system with an overclocked CPU and overclocked GPU. The only reason anyone would need an 800W or higher PSU is if they were running two 980 Ti in SLI. Two 970s in SLI would only need a quality 650W PSU at most as it pulls 439 watts DC total on a similar setup with overclocked i7 3960X @ 4.6GHz.

That said, my recommendation for the OP, whether he goes with a single 980 Ti or two 970s in SLI, would be an EVGA SuperNOVA 650 Platinum ($99 shipped, or $90 after rebate). (JonnyGuru reviewed the 750W SuperNOVA Gold here.) FWIW, this power supply calculator agrees with my recommendation. If you plan on overclocking the SLI setup, go with a 750W EVGA SuperNOVA Gold for $100 shipped.

what you say is true, but i think people buy large house even if they live alone because they can, not because its economically wise. or cars, or whatever.

the same could be said about gamers buying i7 over i5 or even i3. or buying an ultra fast ssd like a samsung pro to surf the web. etc. i think in the end, people buy what their money allows them to buy.

Broclee, couple things first;

1) Intel builds are superior to AMD builds, more so on the upper range.

if you are going to couple a CPU with SLI, or a top-tier card, you will want at least a 6600; this depends on whether you want to overclock or not. since modern CPUs auto-boost, this is not strictly necessary.

2) you might not even need a 980Ti

i play on a 770 (three tiers down, 980Ti>980>970>770), and since my monitor is 1920 x 1080, there simply aren't that many pixels to draw. My GPU barely ever makes a sound, because it just doesn't have any real work to do.
AMD cards are actually pretty solid performers, the 290 for example is excellent for the money.

3) you really do not need liquid cooling, not even a H80.

again, i have a Nepton 220 and it's big, loud, and just doesn't perform that well.
If you run your CPU at stock speeds, the normal Intel heatsink will be enough; if you want to overclock, there are half a dozen heatsinks you can get, for less, which perform better.

4) we really need to know what monitor you will be using. And what games you prefer to play
once we have this info we can provide you with a build.

I like that build. Since you have a decent budget, no reason to go AMD CPU. Broclee89, I did notice that you don't have an OS in your budget. Is that intentional? If you plan to run Windows, you will need a new or unused license for this machine.
