First PC Being Built......

........I started talking about it here.
So far, I've decided on a case, (ENLIGHT Model# EN-72500AZ), and a P4, 2.4BGHz 512K 533MHz CPU Northwood P478 Processor.
My big concern now is compatability with the mobo. Suggestions, and maybe some clarification as to what all the damn specs mean when reading the details.

The Abit BH7 is nice. Hard to tell without more info on what you're looking for.

Carbo, what specifically do you want to know/learn? FWIW I've recently built two 2.4GHz P4 systems, using the EPoX 4PEA+ 845PE board. IMO one of the most underrated 845PE boards out there. I went w/ it based on past EPoX experience, along w/ the Highpoint controller feature. I installed both boards in Enlight cases, one in a 7237 and another in a 72500AZ. I think the main difference in the cases is the 72500 has front USB connectors. On my system (other was for a friend) I installed the Zalman CNPS5700D-CU HSF w/ the directional shroud and had no problems w/ clearance. In my case I'm using an Enermax EG465P-VE(FMA) power supply and it does a great job.

For your P4 your short list of boards should include the new 875/865 Intel chipsets, 845PE chipset, and SiS655. From there choose what features you want/need and weed out the non-qualifiers.

I would recommend going with the Abit BH-7. The onboard sound is more than adequate. It is very stable while being inexpensive. I recently built one. The manual and instructions are clear and easy to follow. If you have issues their RMA policy is the best in the business.
