first overclock help

Ok I'm trying to oc my elsa 920 and I've only increased the core and the memory clock by only 10 over default and it runs a good bit faster it seem but I'm getting artifacts in games and odd behavior. Like sometimes the screen will get a little funny...and loading between levels seems slower. What am I doing wrong here? How the heck are people pushing like 500?! Thanks.

Can you give some specs on your systems.

Artifacts could be from overheating.
