Hi all
Just thought I would ask some knowledgeable folk for some advise.

This is my first ever go at overclocking.
I live in the tropics and as I type this it is 32deg c in the room I am in i don't like using aircon..
So keeping my temps down w/- standard cooling is hard but the case does have good air flow
I have reduced my vcore to 1.250 to reduce heat and overclocked to 325 x 9 = 2925 this seems to be my max here in the tropics disabled C1E & EIST and changed my fsb:dram dividers so my ram is as close as I can get to its rated 800.at 5, 6, 6, 16, 2T; 1.8V
Other Info that may be of interest.
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT (will be replacing this card in the next few weeks) overclocked to VGA Memory Clock from 400 to 482.0 MHz VGA Core Clock from 575to 661.0 MHz GPU 50 °C (122 °F) to about 62/5°C at load running 3Dmark06
Core temps. at idle using Core Temp 0.99
Core #1 45 °C (115 °F) Core #2 45 °C (115 °F)
Core #3 43 °C (109 °F) Core #4 43 °C (109 °F)
if i have the aircon on and room is at about 28 °C they all drop by a few °C
at load they all go to the high 60+ °C but stay under 70°C just running prime95
Just looking for thoughts on what I have done and if there are any things I should be doing..

Thanks
If I have not given enough info pls ask and I will try to supply.

So you overclocked, and reduced the vcore? Sounds good. Have you stress-tested it (24hr Prime95)?

Yeah, that's odd. I've never heard of anyone lowering the voltage for a better overclock. Seems to me that it would be unstable.

Thanks for those comments VirtualLarry & Cancer12.
I have stress tested for about 4 hours in prime that is when my core temps went up to about 67 - 68 °C i stopped because the ambient temp in this room got to about 34 °C (should have put on the aircon i suppose) and i did not want the core temps to go any higher. The reason i dropped vcore volts down was because from what i had read 1.250 volts was enough if you stayed under 3.0 Ghz and my temps were going up to 70 °C + in 5 to 10 minutes in prime95 with vcore on auto at 1.375 volts. I thought it was when you went over 3.0Ghz that you need 1.30 volts and above to stay stable. I have also run OCCT for about 1 hour with no problems at all. I wish it was cooler where i live when it comes to this but what can i do!!!!
LOTS FOR THIS NEWBIE TO LEARN.. ONCE AGAIN THANKS GUYS..........

It seems like you need better cooling. High ambient temperatures aside, those temps look a bit unreasonable for your overclock. Are you using the stock intel heatsink, or something else?

Yep I agree 100% the C2Q's run hot by nature, but thats a bit hot indeed. Seeing as you live in the tropics, I would suggest at least a cooler with a moderate performance improvement over the stockfan. Even something as mudane (and cheap!) as the OCZ Vendetta would suffice IMHO. Or an Arctic Cooler 7 Pro. You could also use a CoolerMaster HyperTX2. Decent cooler and not too expensive either. For the whole 9 yards, you could buy a TRUE (ThermalRight Ultra 120 eXtreme) and add one or two 120mm fans, or if the rumours Ive heard are true, look out for the OCZ Vendetta 2.

If you are looking for a good price/performance ratio, do what I do and look at the coolers available in your area or online and Google for reviews to see what would be the best.

At the moment just using stock intel heatsink

Double check the stock HS to see if it secured. Been many comments about the pins not snapped into the Motherboard properly. Just to be on the safe side, check and recheck.

Also if at all possible I would like cooler that doesn?t require me to remove my motherboard as pulling it all apart now would be very hard. All the wires have been tied up to help improve airflow and looks and I would need to spend ages getting it back to the way it is now. I have not spent much time playing around inside the case I have a friend who puts them together for me but he lives in Sydney about 2000 miles away. I have read that the Thermaltake TMG i1 is ok for ease of installation and does a pretty good of keeping things cool any thoughts.
Thanks

HI, I have the ACF7pro, but I got the bolt thru kit. The AcF7p comes with push pins.....got to be better than that stock cooler!
