patriot pc6400
asus p5b-e
bfg 7900gs oc
antec trio 430

right now im at vcore 1.3500 temp at 60 full load 400*7=2.8ghz, ram 4-4-4-12 at 800mhz, stock cooling. does this seem about right? i tried 450 but orthos kept failing, tried putting vcore at 1.275 but it failed. so here i sat wondering should i be happy? also if i get aftermarket cooler which one should i look into getting and what can i expect speed wise. thanks for any help.

Bump Vdimm to 2.1 with 5-5-5-15-2T timing. Set memory divider to 1:1. Raise Vcore to 1.45. Finally, raise northbridge voltage to 1.35-1.45 range. I use the Big Typhoon but anything along that class should allow you to add another 600MHz core speed with a willing CPU.

You should stick with an 9x or higher CPU if you want a better chance of hitting 3.2GHz.

Current settings? Run Memtest (test #5 for 2 hours). If okay, then check GPU, CPU, and chipset for proper cooling.

I have the same mobo and cpu, I'd try bumping up the vcore a bit. I forget what I have mine set to in bios but I know it's atleast 1.4, but this mobo does have quite a voltage droop. I'd monitor the vcore and see how low it's drooping, and then monitor temps when you bump the voltage.

Yeah if your ram is rated at 2.2v, your outta luck with the p5b-e I'm afraid. I remember that was an issue when ddr2 first came about, that even some mobos that can go up to 2.2v aren't set there at default. So people had to use some lower rated ram to boot into bios and jack up the voltage as 1.8 is usually the default. I would suspect the ram in this matter definitely. If you could get your hands on some lower rated ram for testing purposes, that would be ideal.

thanks for the insight. my ram is patriot and 2.2v is the only voltage i see on the specs so i believe that was it. i also had to use my friends ram to go in the bios which would explain alot, i should of known something was up lol. but im retesting vcore 1.3612, 400fsb*7, friends ram (rated as should be) 1.8v 5-5-5-15. orthos went for about 30min at 59-60c and watching movie know b/c thats where if failed last time. if movie goes all the way through will do orthos for atleast 12 hours. thanks for all the help in pin pointing what i hope to be the issue.
