Hey guys... been having some fun doing my first OC today :)

Basically i followed the simple 3-point plan found on the forums here...

1. Found my max HTT = 330, ((335 failed Prime95, 340 not enter Windows... ))

2. Max CPU = 270 x 9 @ 1.5v LOAD TEMP = 48oC (not tried lower MULTI x higher HTT) (280x9 failed Prime95)

3. Not got round to finding Max MEM -- Thats tonights fun !!!

I'm hoping that @ 270x9 ((= 2430MHz)) i will be able to run MEM divider at 0.75 or 150MHz this would add up to 270x0.75 = 202.5 for my crappy cheap generic 200MHz DDR RAM :)

So, hopefully i will have achieved my aim of 2400+MHz on all STOCK gear -- NO extra FANS...but...looks like i have missed the ultimate 2600+MHz FX like OC :(

P.S. These are initial results but am going to try to get a stable setup and leave Prime95 running over-night !!! Will update with more news :)

*****UPDATE*****

STILL NOT FINISHED CONSOLIDATING/ STABILITY TESTING (DONT GET HUGE AMOUNTS OF TIME) BUT... I AM:

Currently running my CPU 280 x 9 (CPUZ finds it as 280.9 lol) = 2520 (2528.39 CPUZ)
- This seems PRETT stable... not done full 24 PRIME...yet... will do though

In order to rn thiss i bumped my VCORE up to 1.55v - in my BIOS this is the MAX but i hear that 1.6 - 1.65 is safe for AMD64 3000+ Venice???

Trouble is that my MEM DIVIDER options seem a little limited...in BIOS i can either run @:

100 2:1 htt x 0.50 = Mhz 140Mhz WAY TOO SLOW
133 1.5:1 htt x 0.66 = Mhz 184.8Mhz too slow ???
166 1.2:1 htt x 0.83 = Mhz 232.4Mhz too fast (almost certainly)
200 1:1 htt = Mhz 280Mhz WAY TOO FAST

Suppose i have 2 options:

1) Run current config with 0.66 MEM DIVIDER and try to 'tighten' up mem settings ???

2) Try a different CPU multi x HTT combo.... might be able to do 300 / 315 x 8... this would make my MEM run nicely @ x 0.66 Multi with either a small OC or under-clock depending if i get it to work at 300 / 305 / 310 / 315 x 8...

DO YOU THINK OPTION 2 WOULD BE BETTER IN MY SITUATION? OR IS THERE A CPU PERFORMANCE HIT RUNNING AT X8 RATHER THAN X9 ?????

THANKS ALL

Is this an E3, E6, or E4 Venice?

2400 is nothing to sneeze at. I spent $350 on an Opteron 170 and it'll do 2.6 with mad voltage, but I figure with 2GB RAM and a 7800GT that when the time comes that 200MHz will help me out, I'll throw that voltage on and if/when it blows up, I'll have gotten my money out of the CPU. Till then I'll run 2400 or 2500 with a lot less voltage and be happy :)

Yeh didn't want 2 introduce too much voltage for 1st OC.... so i'm only @ 1.5v (shows as higher in CPU-Z)

Also my case is cheap and nasty.... not good cooling - set myself limit of 55oC at full load.... this setup hit 50oC i think....

Dreading moving onto the MEM Maximisation stage.... cant even get damn MemTest ISO to boot off CD arrgh - running out of CD's !!!!

Consider using 8.5 multiplier to achieve similar speeds - say 300 X 8.5 at 166 mem speeds and work from there. I know the .5 multiplier is so so but it helps with mem speed.
I tried using 320 X 8.5 for my Venice 3000+ but it was not about sames as 301 X 9 so I left mine at 301 X 9 (the chipset works less harder!) --all HT =3.

Any more info on why the .5 multi is 'so so'?? and alos whether there is a hit from moving down to a loxer multi with higher HTT ???

dont think so.... i have the A8N-SLI not the deluxe.... :(

the figures i have shown... 100 / 133 / 166 / 200 actually appear doubled in the BIOS i.e. 200 / 266 / 333 / 400 but i re-halved em to explain my dilema..!

will check again but i wrote them all down to help me figure best combination
