Oh, what a load of crap. That is the most illogical sounding speculation I have heard in a long time. No way would they have 2 tablets in that form factor. That first photo is just at a weird angle, & how the hell can they tell it is 8 " by a photo, what reference do they have?BS!

it makes sense. they need something between ultra small (7") and big (10)

I would argue, ultra small is the 5"+ phones, and the mid range IS the 7"

It doesn't really make too much sense to offer an 8" AND a 7", though I suppose if they drop the 7" and move entirely to an 8" that might make some semblance of sense.

nexus 5, 8, and 10. The 5 just came out, the 10 is expected by black friday, not sure if the 8 is even real though, as those pictures aren't really very good evidence.

How does that make sense? The 7" refresh just came out 2-3 months ago. No way this is real.

7 inches is too small, you have to do too much scrolling. 8 is the best size, not too small but still easy to carry

then get the nexus 10 reportedly coming out in a few weeks, i highly doubt we will see a nexus 8, at least not before Q2 of 2014. the Nexus 7 JUST came out in july.

The nexus 10 isn't even out yet and has no official price...

It is expected to be 2-3GB RAM
Snapdragon 800 (with Adreno 330) OR Nvidia Tegra4
same screen as last year (a very good 2560x1600 10.1" super PLS TFT)
and a large 9500mAh+ battery

Sounds like a good tablet to me... especially if it releases at the expected $399 price point or lower.

399 is a decent deal

I'd love a Nexus 8 inch tablet. However that looks like looks like a Nexus 7 to me.

I must be the weird one, I much prefer 7 to 8. Much more portable and works better with phone formatted apps (which matters on Android).

You can use whatever logic you want, but the device she's using does not have the top bezel size of the nexus 7. Maybe somebody at the graphics department screwed up, or maybe it's a non nexus tablet, but that is NOT just a weird angle.

When the nexus 7 hit the ground, it was already felt to be outdated and outpowered with its s4 pro. A 8inch refresh lets google get back to the top of the tablet performance mountain.

I would gladly sell my nexus 7 2013 in favor of a nexus 8 that has a s800 chip inside. No questions asked. The difference in performance is quite visible.

nexus 7 was portable. i can easily fit it in the front pocket trouser. 8inch is definitely not portable, might as well get a 10incher

Seeing as KitKat is basically here and the tablet in that picture definitely isn't running KitKat, it's not real.

The 2013 Nexus 7 is essentially a slightly downclocked Snapdragon 600, I'm not seeing the need for a <1 year refresh just to move to 800. Yes the 10 needs to be 800, and I will probably buy one.

I would support a 4:3 aspect ratio 7-8" model though, the 16:9 ratio just results in a tiny screen. Yes that results in lower costs at a given diagonal measurement but 4:3 makes a better general purpose device IMO.

Again, your logic is fine and that may not be a new device ... But then what is it? Is it a Nexus 7 and they shopped a screen that's too tall? Is it a Samsung tablet?

Yeah, this is one reason I prefer the 7". Past that I actually prefer a 10" tablet whether it's a hybrid like the Surface line or the iPad Air.
