First my FW900, now my VG248QE. What next?

So I need to get a new monitor.

My FW900 did everything from 2560x1600@75Hz to 1920x1200@96Hz to 800x600@180Hz. RIP in peace.
My VG248QE did everything 1920x1080@144Hz. RIP in peace.

1. Max refresh (120Hz minimum) with fast response time is more important than all other features.
2. I have a GTX 970 in my primary machine, but I don't necessarily want to get locked into G-Sync since I also have FreeSync-compatible GPUs in the house. Also, they are too expensive.
3. I'm not anti-TN, but if there is a really fast VA (preferred) or IPS option, I'd like that.
4. Do any of the 34" 21:9 panels do 144Hz?
5. Anything coming out soon that's not available yet that I should be waiting for?

Right now I'm back to a spare Acer 1080p 60Hz TN with terrible response times... it's horrible. I had a few hours of free time last night and I couldn't even game for 10 minutes without turning it off. LOL I'm spoiled!

Sell your 970 for an 8GB 390 and grab the MG279Q and call it a day.

Enjoy one of the best gaming monitors on the market without really overpaying for it. Take advantage of freesync, it works amazingly well on this monitor and worth the added expense. The $150-200 premium for G-Sync module is really not. Nvidia will likely eventually give in (they're already copying freesync style implementation on their high end laptops) and adopt freesync. It just makes sense.
