There was already a dx10 bench on Call of Juarez from guru3d showing one instance of dx10, why would it be any different? People keep on saying "it will do gret in dx10, wheres the proof?

I quote this guy:

But only 50% the Fps of a 88gts!?!?!? That cannot be true nevertheless probably - so much clearance will not be able to offer also the driver optimization, or?

'nuff said.

Who knows what the situation will end up being like but once you see some real drivers I'm 100% confident that the HD 2900XT will at the very least equal or outperform the 8800GTS in DX10.

Can't wait to get this tommorrow and run it! Cascades is interesting but a real DX10 game is going to be awesome.

I find it very, very hard to believe the 2900 gets half the FPS of the GTS in this, or any other game.

Something is definitely awry.

COJ DX10 demo was reported to be running like crap on the 8800s till nV released their newer drivers also, so i'd assume this is a somewhat similar situation.

Kinda disappointing how so many games seem to have driver issues with the 2900 XT though.

Well, it just came out today. There's going to be some driver problems with a new card and a completely new architecture.

That aside, I remember amd saying they could release the cards months and months ago, so the dx9 drivers arent THAT new, they've had some time to work on them.

If AMD could have launched the HD 2900XT several months ago with good performance, they would have done it. Saying that "we could launch them but we'll just wait" is marketing BS.

I'm starting to think that the 2900 needs a driver profile for each game in order to perform well. Kind of like SLI\Crossfire.

Sounds like the GeForce FX series ;)

Needs optimization in every game to perform well.

Nah, the 2900XT is a good card, nothing like the FX series. It'll be fine once new drivers are launched; new drivers have provided ACROSS THE BOARD increases in performance.

Nah, the 2900XT is a crap card, much worse than the FX series. It'll be less crappy once new profiles are launched; new profiles have provided SOME increases in performance.

Fixed. ;)

The HD 2900XT isn't half as bad as you make it. It's just got some problems.

The HD 2900XT is twice as bad as you make it. It's got a lot of problems.

Fixed again.

I may be exaggerating in my edits a bit, but you clearly need to wake up and smell the delayed coffee here.

It needs newer drivers, obviously. There is a rather large increase in the drivers on the CD, to the newer ones.

NV has increased their performance with a driver just this week as well.
Later that evening NVIDIA noticed that the press obtained the demo and one day later issued a driver which was showing excellent performance and no weird stutters or anything anymore. The driver is the 158.42 driver which be will be released to the public this week.

From guru3d about Juarez.

Amazing how Nvidia always pulls off a boost when Ati releases a new card, isnt it?

If that doesnt tell you something about their lame tactics I dont know
Do you still believe Nvidia doesnt hold off on drivers? Ive been saying from the start that the 8800 series wasnt reaching full potential, because thats always what Nvidia does... When you buy a card youre actually buying 80% of that card, and have to wait until ATi releases something to get the remaining 20% back

Either way, the card was already king of the hill, so it doesnt matter much here

And I wish AMD would make an official statement regarding this... At least let us know what kind of improvements we should be looking at in the next couple of months

What's the point? It will be just another bunch of marketing BS.

Did you look at this? (thanks Ackmed for the link)

Thats a 275% increase in Oblivion, 50% increase in SS2, and 35% increase in Splinter Cell 2

I dont think any numbers would be marketing BS at this point

Utter BS i'd say. It's Rage3D. Try to say something good about Nvidia in there. They'll have your skin up on a pole in no time.
How come they have all these new drivers, yet, all PROFESSIONAL review sites "missed" them? Reviews were today... ooooh.... the drivers must have come out just as they were benchmarking; i see.
Anand also uses 8.37 and the situation looks completely different.

Would be nice to see though. It's just hard to believe. That would bring 8900GTX closer.

Not to mention low resolution comparisons.

D10 really is a moot point for current hardware.

what we're gonna see for a bit is DX9 with some DX10 cheeries on top, and by the time full DX10 content is out an about it'll be time to buy a new graphics card anyway...so really i wouldnt worry about either cards DX10 prowess. ill bet theyre both not that great

QFT. This nonsensical debate about DX10 is laughable.

By the time DX10 is mainstream neither G80 nor R600 will be viable.

Reminds me of the days of DX8.1 games with DX9hardware... Later we all upgraded again becuase that FX5200 although DX9, was ******.
