I'll have to wait and see it in motion in HD before I pass any judgment. I don't think anyone was expecting the graphics of the trailer....at least I wasn't...but I'm still looking forward to the graphics nonetheless.

Yah ... it looks IDENTICAL to their E3 trailer 2 years ago ... :p

lmao right man, right

either you just wanted to say that, or are BLIND to the many faults of that image that clearly represent it as being real. It looks great, but no current game engine can pass as perfect. This actually looks like a great engine, as it definitely appears to be an in-game engine screen shot.

edit:
motherh (Killzone devteam member): "Yup guys, it is real. It is a little bit early, but it is 100% in-game."
(on a thread about the image in question, posted on the us.playstation.com forum)
motherh has also stated it is a pre-pre-alpha shot (yes, pre-pre-alpha). He can't talk much because of an NDA, but has stated a lot more screens will be released over the next couple of days, along with more info and whatnot.

and don't forget: tonight at 9:30pm is the official Killzone E3 event before Sony's E3 event tomorrow.

read the bottom of my post above the one you just made.
a dev team member was quoted as saying this is pre-pre-alpha, and that more current work will be seen at the Killzone 2 press event, as well as on PSN, probably the next day.

you should understand what pre-pre-alpha should mean. The engine is far from mature, likely not 100% stable, and the graphical presentation is definitely not polished.
Hopefully what we see from E3 is polished and ready. I want to see/hear some good news, such as a release date by the end of the year. :)

Motherh (the guy that said it was pre-pre-alpha) isn't an actual developer...I think he used to be a tester, but recently got promoted. Something like that. He still works for GG and is in charge of answering all of the questions on the PS forums.

Yes, he said to wait for more media before judging. He likely knows that some aspects of the image don't look so hot.

He also mentioned it looked better in motion.

One thing people didn't seem to care much about was the extra news for the game:

1. It will take place on Helghan.
2. The Helghast can control the weather (which they state makes for interesting gameplay).

If the upcoming media is from a newer build of the game, perhaps then things will look much better.

I would just like to laugh in advance at the faces of ANYBODY that thinks the actual game is going to look even close to that trailer from e3 2 years ago.

I'm still unsure as to how a sequel to an average game can garner so much attention with the simple showing of a CG trailer, and witholding the information that it was, in fact, CG. With this screenshot (it looks decent enough to me), it finally puts the nail in the coffin to anyone else who was hanging on to the notion that the E3 "demo" from 2 years ago was CG.

Looking back on it, I now look badly on Sony with how they handled the entire thing. They wouldn't give anyone an answer one way or another as to whether this the trailer was close to in-game or if was merely CG, or a target demo. Now we're looking at a "pre-pre-alpha" image over 2 years later that isn't even close to what they originally showed.

Interestingly enough, apparently, that was a poster in game. This is what a previous screen looked like.

If that is in game wall texture, holy...

That was already debunked on the neoGAF forums. Someone photochopped the original to make it look like a poster on a brick wall.

I'd say that was really obvious to begin with.

Hell, I remember asking a sony rep myself at E3 two years ago...."is this real time or CGI?" All he did was dance around it, and basically feigned ignorance. Part of me wants to believe he was just a PR shmoe that really didnt *know* about the games he was pimping, but seeing how they've handled everything since then, I'm pretty sure that was just company policy.

Although at the end of the day, they did the same thing with motorstorm, and it didnt exactly hurt sales in the end.
