Got my job offer from Procter and Gamble today! I'm pretty excited!
Graduating April 2007 with a BASc in Chemical Engineering.

$60K/year (figures CAD), located in Toronto, ON.
2.5K paid out 50% when I sign, 50% when I start
Relocation Bonus includes moving + house hunting
3 Weeks vacation in first calendar year
Start date in May or Sept

Comprehensive Health and Dental Insurance, Disability Insurance, Life Insurance and Accidental Insurance.
Employee Stock Ownership Plan
and apparantly there's a "shop" where you can take home P&G products (I think.)

Moving out, my rent will be $220 CAD/month, utilities included.

I still have other companies to apply for, and an exam today - should I continue the job hunt?
Does anyone here work for P&G?

That's about $52,000 USD, which was what I was offered out of college with a ChE degree in 2004. Even though it's two years later, I think $52,000 is pretty good for starting ChemE's. I have a friend working right now and she's looking for a new job, I think she makes $55-59k and she's expecting to have to take a pay cut if she moves anywhere else, and this is with about two years experience.

The P&G employee store is probably a lot like the J&J store was when I worked at a J&J owned company. In short, it was awesome. You could buy J&J products for quite a bit off their retail price. It's been a while so actual prices are a little fuzzy, but I think I paid ~$5.50 for 225 caplets of Motrin. It's about 3 times that at the drugstore. Needless to say, I stocked up before I left.

What's the retirement plan like? If they match what you contribute to your 401K (do they even have 401K's in Canada?), you should consider that as well. I'm looking at some benefits right now for a job I'm considering and they match up to 4% of my salary, which you should take into account as well.

P&G is a big company so there's probably some room for mobility in the company as well.

Oh Thanks! That reminds me to put down how much rent would be.. cost of living is high but I'd be downtown with friends relatives, so $220/mth incl. utils.

Pay in my field ranges from 48-65K... I believe.

Go to monster.ca, they have a salary calculator. This will give you an idea of what is good for this position.

Procter and Gamble is a great company to start out with. Never hurts to have a big name on your resume. I would concentrate on school and just chill until you start working.

I agree with this. What's the cost of living like in that area? Actually, it doesn't much matter since they're paying a "relocation" fee ... or something.

Either way, good job!

Relocation fee probably means they're paying his moving expenses so he can move there. The cost of living is still an issue since they're not assisting with that (other than his salary, of course)
