long story short, im on the turnpike while its pouring on my way home from the swap shop to pickup some glass on glass smoking apparatus goodies, i hit a puddle in the road [far right lane] and then my car clunks out, i put my hazards on and turn it on and get it under the under pass on the TP, while this is happening another car is being dragged by highway patrol to the side of th road where i am. A beautiful women gets out, turns out she goes to my uni[or will be Monday] and her ten year old Camry with 300K+miles just clunked out, tranny for sure.

got the car towed via triple using this females card, she said i was her brother 😀 [18.blone.blueeyes.greatass&rack] they rigged her car on first and towed mine behind to a friend of friend of mines shop [ with triple a you can only go so far, before they charge per mile] and this shop was conveniently 1.5 of the TP.

my questions here are,
im pretty sure its my clutch considering i learned drive stick on it, the car starts fine no weird noises, the clutch just wont engage in the gear, one weird fact, i could NOT go into reverse.

so that leads me to the tranny, can the tranny really go on a Toyota with 40k on the clock? if so its gotta be under warranty ?im the second owner[do warranties carry over?], original owner is out of the county, and thus denied the option for extended service plan.[which i would of paid for]

so the only positive of the day was i managed to get the #of this young hottie and a free tow, while i sit here anxiously wondering how much its gonna cost me to get this car on the road again.

one things after enother with me, i don't understand, i believe in karma, i hold the door open for women etc, im an overall nice guy, if there is a *god* why is he so content on shitting on me? is it because of the 12"alpine" type r and 1000 JL audio amp bumpin down the road or the fact that life sucks then you fucking die.

and if its the clutch, can you guys recomend a site online to order a new one [ or try a you pull it/salvage yard?]

Does the shifter feel normal? afaik, those cars have a cable shifter setup, and sometimes they just pop off. I doubt its something really serious, though.

oh, and lol at grabbing a clutch from a u-pull...

Aren't you the guy who installed unshielded HIDs in this Scion?

I think it's Karma.

Anyway, you can never trust people you meet on the highway. Yeah, she might be a tranny. It's unlikely at that young age though.

This, after the run-in with the blond? Ever heard the story about the guy on the cliff who is offered a rope, a boat, a helicopter and denies each one saying God will help him. Finally he falls, dies, goes to heaven asks God why he didn't help, God says he sent him a rope, a boat, a ladder wtf.

If this is clutch, I know a guy who buggered his in 30k. Bad driving can destroy them quick. Don't be the guy who hill-holds. Don't ever, ever be that guy.

A clutch will wear slowly and slip when engaging. It will not as a first symptom "clunk out" while in gear.

got the invoice clutch and labor for $800... is that a deal? this is supposed to be a family friend...

He is not giving a friend discount.

I don't think that's horrific but it certainly sounds on the high side.

BTW I have three times as many miles on my maxima's clutch. You may want to look into why you're burning through them so quickly. The trick with a clutch is that any time the pedal is either not all the way out or all the way in you are burning clutch up.

Reduce aggressive starts with high rpm
Match RPM on up and down shifts
Never hill hold. Don't ever, ever hill hold

got a local shop shop [autodreams,South FL] to do the install for ~$400 and im going to bring him my own kit, the scion forums recommend this One .

its cheaper then the stock replacement ($250) and is technically a better clutch. before i do anything stupid like the HID's again, At god what do you think?

I apologize in advance for the threadjack but.....

I just wanted to address your signature.

Couple of months ago a guy comes to my work at about 3am, he uproots a palm tree pulling into the parking lot, nearly takes down the speaker order point, and hits the building twice pulling around to the window. The cops are already there waiting for him, a woman who lives in the apartments called them because he was driving the wrong way with no lights down the 4-lane highway.

He was stone cold sober. So high on marijuana (cops found quite a bit in his truck, a half-smoked joint and an un-smoked one on him) he thought his arrest was the most hilarious thing ever.

He's just lucky there was nobody on the streets or in the parking lot.

I'm pretty sure it's the HIDs that are causing the clutch failure. You'd better swap them out for your stock bulbs.

That pisses me off. People like him should be beaten at the knees with a baseball bat to ensure they cannot drive again.

Yes. Who cares who made it. Things can break prematurely.

one things after enother with me, i don't understand, i believe in karma, i hold the door open for women etc, im an overall nice guy, if there is a *god* why is he so content on shitting on me?

Because you really don't care about him? 😛
"karma" is just a feel-good word people use to feel better about themselves 😉

price i pay for not simply not asking the "garage" before i purchased it. anyway, i bought This, paid an extra $50 to have it shipped UPS Blue [2 days max] and im having a local shop [AutoDreams] install it for ~400. [they said same day install]

overall im pretty satisfied, doing my own research an part hunting i saved myself $250 from my a "family friend" mechanic [what a croc that prick was]

Just hope everything goes smoothly and I'd back on the rode Saturday or Monday if worse comes to worse, I forgot how much not having my own car, really sucks in south Florida.

Oh and with the money I saved, I'm gonna go get the car pro clay barred and waxed, the original owner didn't take care of it and its got little knicks and hairline scratches [black car] all over, so I'm gonna get my baby nice and shiny when shes up and running again.

so 7600 for the car+ taxes=~8200+~600 for clutch and labor=8800 total cost otd for me.

2007 Japanese vehicle with 40k on the clock for 9g's? did i do alright? [clean carfax, no accidents , upgraded curtain airbags and original sticker pricing in car of 21.xxx [scion is a non negotiable dealer] oh and the bonus of it all, original owner left me 4 Trojan magnums in the glove, thanks Jon 😉

enough rambling, im stoned and off to the gym, ill check back at all the negitive comments later, puhheaaacee

clutch was supposed to be delivery at 3pmt est [ups blue is 3 right?] looks like it's not gonna get here intime for an install today, hopefully everything good tomorrow...

got a call this morning, apparently my flywheel is shot as well, can;t find anything local and the pllace i orderd the clutch said i could have it here by Thursday for 200, shop guy called me back and said hes gonna get it sent out today to get resurfaced locally and hell get it back tomorrow, for an additional c-note off course.

this is getting more and more expensive each day,i promise to baby my cluctch/transmission ,like no other before.
